Max joked once that Russian wouldn't let him win a tap for the first 6 years.

And Jamar is 198.

That bloke who left us to go home to Freo is 199.

We recruited AJ as a forward/ruckman and he is 193.

One take from that video and from what I saw at training is that Will Verrall won't make it as a ruckman. Tom Campbell absolutely monstered him. He's not tall enough and reliable track watchers say his running is still below standard. I hope we're going to try him as a KP, he has got some ball skills.

The bright side is TC looks very capable of providing depth for Max.

Be careful  old55 you will be called negative. At the risk of similar I agree and I think the coaches do as well. Otherwise why bring in second ruck options.

A bloke called John Nicholls went OK at 189. Strength, positioning and mongrel, (lots of),  made up for lack of height.

I think I am right in saying Boy George was playing and looked really impressive

Correct Chook, I was there for about 45 min, Roy and McAdam were both extremely lively up forward. Roy kicked 3 goals in the match sim That I saw. Clarry was in everything again.

Don't jinx him, has alot to prove to us Dees faithful.

That’s not a jinx mate — that’s celebrating a guy being finally fit and maybe getting a chance to show his wares! Jinx would be to say he’s guaranteed to play 20 games and dominate.. but I’m not gonna hold back how exciting it is to see him, Clarry, Billings all look so fit & chomping at the bit! It’s a serious game-changer if they stay fit & confident.

as per my earlier post the kids are coming so comp for spots is gonna be a massive part to how our year goes

Can someone explain why there’s no god damn report on this session!!!

I posted this in another thread but I don’t like the thought of you being angry so ima post it here, too 😘

Anyways my track-watching buddy just sent me this (rushed) report from this morning’s session at Casey. Some of it is hard to understand, apologies in advance, but also thanks to my awesome gal-pal for taking notes.

Mentha hype seems real too as sidenote but George can’t get on list let’s be honest and I’m not gonna prey for a inj to one of our list to get him there that’s for sure!!! Mid-season draft but there’s many in frame for that, chance was cat b rookie but seems that got knocked on head so as talented as he is it’ll likely have to be next year unless club somehow pulls rabbit out of the proverbial

If Spargs is a long way off they can put him on the LTI list to get George

There’s a few on the list I’d happily trade out for a speculative pick like George. If he’s applying himself and shows he’s got what it takes then that puts him in front of some others in my opinion.

1 ..because he’s an experienced massive ruckman who doesn’t expect to be the No 1 and from all accounts is an amazing people /club person so will be a great ruck coach & 2 because Verall isn’t ready yet ..but surely too early to say he won’t make it

Yeah I don't know why they haven't given him time as a key defender.  He is probably the only one who has the bulk in the Casey side to take over May's spot if he becomes injured, now that Thommo has gone.  All the other defenders at Casey are lightly framed.

Not only is it Will's height but you watch Max run his opposition off the park every week.  If Will bulks up too much he won't be able to keep up

John Nicholls had a backside that was the size of the goal square - he would t make an AFL the way the game is played now imho

Back to Will Verrall I was really upbeat about him after his first pre season practice game (albeit just a cameo) but he hasn’t really progressed the way I’d expected - he just doesn’t seem to have the spring he appeared to have and without that I tend to agree with others that he will struggle to be competitive as a ruckman. I would like to see him trial at Casey as a KPP and see if he can hold a position down there

Tom Campbell looks great, great depth and looks like an excellent ruck very happy we got him.  Feel like we've got two very capable rucks there.  Hopefully Verrall gets better, he looks pretty big if he has skills and stays fit who knows.

Reckon Billings has the goods, they have just eluded him for a while, but he looks like he's way fitter and bigger in the match sim so hopefully he has a good season, same for McAdam, would love to see him do well we paid a bit for him.

Very excited for the season to start!

Does anyone know how to determine if a player is eligible to be placed on the long term injury list?

I know of a player in a suburban competition who had surgery on his Achilles late last year and was told he could be out of sport for 12 months so being over 30 years old, he decided to retire.

Charlie’s surgery happened in July last year. If he was also looking at a 12 month return date, would that be sufficient for him to be put on the LTI?

I agree that Verrall probably won’t make it at AFL level, but seriously he was a speculative rookie selection. It’s really not a big deal if he doesn’t make it and I’d imagine 80-90% of rookie picks wouldn’t make it. Not sure why people are getting worked up about that.

It’d be a pity to miss on a talent of the potential of Roy George because we’re hoping an NQR ruck might make it.

Roy George is a mature age player who has been overlooked by all AFL clubs so far. It would be great if we picked him and he makes it, but he’s also a completely different player to Verrall so we would be looking at replacing someone else with George. Realistically you need 3-4 ruck options on your list

KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie
