Another question. If you put a player on the LTI and then the original player returns can you keep the add on on your list in any capacity or are they delisted?

I may have this wrong, but just read AFL Rule 26 re LTI and it seems only Rookie possibly Category B players can be uplifted to the Primary list and it doesn't say anything about that Rookie being replaced on the Rookie list by an unlisted player.

LTI is a minimum 6 weeks and if fit again,  uplifted Rookie or another player on the Primary list goes down to the Rookie list.

It is confusing.

Does anyone know how to determine if a player is eligible to be placed on the long term injury list?

I know of a player in a suburban competition who had surgery on his Achilles late last year and was told he could be out of sport for 12 months so being over 30 years old, he decided to retire.

Charlie’s surgery happened in July last year. If he was also looking at a 12 month return date, would that be sufficient for him to be put on the LTI?

I'm assuming these questions relate to signing Roy George as an SSP.

As I understand it if a player goes onto the LTI and the list spot is filled by a 'new' player via the SSP or mid-season draft the LTI cannot return to play in the season.

I don't think there is anything that says that 'new' player is to be delisted - he can be offered a contract eg Luke Kentfield replacing Gus.

Regarding Spargo, I think his injury was in 2023 and he missed all of 2024 with an archilles issue.  imv Charlie deserves the chance to play for his spot and a new contract as he is OOC this year.   The club played him in round 1 2024 on no preseason risking more injury.

I've mentioned elsewhere, if we wanted George we should have kept a list spot for him; we knew his talents as he played for Casey.  I would love to seem him signed on but if there is no list spot it is our own fault.

That’s not a jinx mate — that’s celebrating a guy being finally fit and maybe getting a chance to show his wares! Jinx would be to say he’s guaranteed to play 20 games and dominate.. but I’m not gonna hold back how exciting it is to see him, Clarry, Billings all look so fit & chomping at the bit! It’s a serious game-changer if they stay fit & confident.

as per my earlier post the kids are coming so comp for spots is gonna be a massive part to how our year goes

I hope he hits the ground running for us TN, i know what he can produce from watching Crows games.

Did f all for us last season for whatever reason he didn't hit the ground running last pre season.

Let's see him playing good footy in the red and blue before we start celebrating his brilliance in pre season and showering him with praise.

Can understand your optimise though, hopefully he can put it all together.

Not having a go at you in any way shape or form @Tolstoys Nudge

Just want him and us to be flying under the radar this season.

Gee he was moving well…. If we can get a full season out of him that would be a huge bonus

Should be on slightly reduced bunch of games early on ie managed to ensure full season of fitness if he is full on form early in the season.

Some )have doubted his ability ( like those questioning Jeffo)

Haha they’re both about to turn 30! They’re not getting any better, they are what they are. The ones we need to really kick on and make a difference are those in the 22-25 bracket like Sparrow, JVR, McVee, Rivers etc.

You are right but really 30 in a medium/small is not a finish year for career and both deserve a second/third season to absolutely find their best form. Sport is a fickle beast and don’t write off anyone due to age.

Who knows? But people tend to write players off too quickly. If McAdam is fitter or Billings either realises this is his last chance or something else clicks for him they will be more valuable.

Yes Old Dee fails to realize that after ONE season ends the next one is not guaranteed to be the same especially with young developing players and new recruits.

Has virtually written off for the 2025 season McAdam Jefferson Billings Fullerton and Verrall.

Yes 2024 season was not great but reasons for this and it would be great if the first 3 especially had improved seasons then our list depth would be much improved.

I met a guy who was friends with Max at primary school. He said back then he was a very ordinary footballer.

AS I have said if OD was a selector or Coach we would not have Gawny at all after about 2/3 seasons and gee I reckon Trac might have been in trouble at the end of 2019!!!

Should not have resigned Marty Hore so early and had easy enough time to place Roy on our list if followed that time frame. A panic selection like how we shelved Young Mac Andrew’s brother with either Hore or Mentha. Needed a CHB or FB recruit more than Ricky really and definitely Marty as he is 10 years older!!!

Yeah I don't know why they haven't given him time as a key defender.  He is probably the only one who has the bulk in the Casey side to take over May's spot if he becomes injured, now that Thommo has gone.  All the other defenders at Casey are lightly framed.

Not only is it Will's height but you watch Max run his opposition off the park every week.  If Will bulks up too much he won't be able to keep up

i forget where did thommo end up

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
