I have seen photos on the club site. Did anyone go?

Thanks

ย

I dropped past as I was in the area, they were about to start an intra club with official AFL umpires. There looked to be a few Casey players to make up the numbers, unfortunately I couldn't hang around to watch as I had to get going. I was hoping somebody else could fill us in but I'm not holding my breath as I didn't see anyone else watching on.

My friend attended training yesterday and this is what she texted me โ€ฆย

โ€œWent to training today and wow just wow- I have never seen them like this! It was full-on. Serious training no holding back. Onlyย me and 2ย other spectators.ย
โ€จ
The rehab group were on the back oval- but all were running, moving and kicking ย really well as far as I could see.ย

The boys are so fit! I canโ€™t wait to see them actually out on the ground.โ€

ah, righto

i'm so used to petty training in a hat that i presumed it was him

I missed this. What is the issue with Disco please?

Agree - what's he done? Was really hoping he could build some continuity, shows a lot

He sprained an ankle just before Christmas. Haven't heard whether that is still the issue, but he still wasn't back with the main group doing match sim last Wednesday at Gosch's. He was running freely with the other rehabbers, so hopefully a cautious approach being taken at this stage. Not sure what he did last Friday at Casey?

Hurt his foot/ankle. Back running and plan is to rejoin main training in the next 1-2 weeks.ย

Intra-club in January with AFL umpires. Is that normal?

Very normal. Gets earlier every year to be honest. Majority of clubs are into match simulations with umpires (umpires need training too๐Ÿ˜‚).

Unofficial practice games start in just a bit over 4 weeks so itโ€™s all systems go!ย

Most of the outside world have us finishing 15-16 this year.ย
It will be very special if we can get back to finals this year.ย
Hopefully the whole Football Department has set a Standard that will not be compromised.ย

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #5 Christian Petracca ย

The superstar Demon midfielder made a successful return to the fold after his devastating injury last year and the subsequent fallout from the treatment he received, during which time he sought to depart the club. Petracca's professionalism and strong play, both in the midfield and up forward, were outstanding and resulted in him being runner-up in the club's best and fairest count. However, early this week, the club's new CEO, Paul Guerra, confirmed that the under-contract Petracca has again requested a trade, adding that he would only be allowed to leave for a โ€œquality offer that turns our head". No doubt some Demon heads are already spinning.

The former first-round draft selection experienced an average second season, marked by participation in several VFL games, as well as three matches in which he was subbed out. He is nevertheless, a highly regarded talent capable of playing on the wing or behind the ball, with additional aspirations of developing into a centre square midfielder over time.

The Demon stalwart surpassed the number of his father's appearances for the club towards the end of the season. As he approaches his thirties, his pace is inevitably slowing, and he is likely to explore alternative opportunities beyond the team's midfield.

The Demon premiership defender who has the reputation the master of intercept possessions as well as great leadership qualities managed only eight senior games this season as he battled injury and form, prompting speculation that he might be enticed to look elsewhere.

โ€œDiscoโ€ took his time (four seasons) but the mid-season draftee has been a shining light of Melbourne's campaign, improving to become a versatile option at either end of the ground. He has great marking skills which allows him to play as a marking target up forward or an intercepting defender down back.ย

The skipper delivered another outstanding season, leading the team from the front, participating in every game, and earning club champion honours, while also securing an equal record eighth All-Australian blazer as a ruckman.ย  Max Gawn is arguably the greatest exponent of ruck skills in the history of the game; an exceptional leader who has guided the club to a premiership, through the challenging times that followed, and now into the next phase of its storied history.
