I took my son this morning to his first super Aus kick clinic where Melbourne players were in attendance. It was held at the Sandringham Oval. by far the majority of players who I spoke to were an absolute delight.

The ones who stood out were:

Daniel Bell, Isaac Weetra, Cam Bruce, Jeff White, Brad Miller, Robbo, James McDonald and Colin Garland. I was especially wrapped in Daniel Bell who went down on his knees often to speak to the kids at their level. Apparently they all had a good night last night and had few injuries.

I was a little disappointed with some of the players who I felt did not go out of the way to make the kids feel very special - in particular Aaron Davey, Adem Yze and Brock McClean. I did see them later on with other kids so I probably just caught them at a bad time with my kid. Afterall, I suppose they do not have to be engaged with them all the time.

Anyway, a big thanks to the club because my child has not taken the smile of his face.

Much of the conversation with the players involved the following:

(1) Glad to have a win. They had a good night last night seeing there is a bit of a long break between games (a bit of alcohol was drunk)

(2) Davey's knee is bruised but should be ok (had a little limp). Some players didn't even know he hurt himself.

(3) J-McDonald had a good laugh with me over the interchange discussion with Godfrey in the last quarter.

(4) Colin Garland is playing at CHB and will be tried in a few positions

(5) Will not be long before Newton gets a game (from several players)

Anyway - go dees. :)

As you say Brock may have been busy at the time you approached him. I met him at the Dome earlier this year when he was wandering around to get something to eat at half time. He was fantastic to the 6 year old I had with me and again when he was doing a jumper signing stint at the G earlier this year.

Good to see the players encouraging our future fans.

i met brock and sylvia at highpoint a few years ago, i had my melbourne polo on and they stopped and had a few quick words which was cool cos they really didnt have to and i wasnt expecting them to

Brock McLean was one of the last players on the ground - he stayed way longer than was necessary and was out signing autographs long after other players had left. I didn't see Yze so can't comment. Aaron Davey arrived a little late I think as he didn't have a particular group assigned to him. He appeared to be making a point of talking to all the kids who were patiently waiting to have a go at something.

Isaac Weetra was absolute Gold - openly admitting to me more excited about the VOLVOS on display than getting out with the kids. He was hilarious.

I found all the players to be very nice and very patient given the huge numbers down there today - I am so biased though that none of my Demon boys could ever do anything wrong.

My neighbours' kids also went down today, and as avid Collingwood supporters, they just came over to tell me that 'Brock McLean is really nice'.

I hope he was nice enough to convert them from the Filth to the Dees, because my brain-washing hasn't worked so far! :D

my six year old loved brock so much at last years clinic, she has now chosen him as 'her player'.

I think Brock gets the vote as good with kids so far, so I guess your timing was just bad.

Almost all of the MFC players attended the Auskick Super clinic yesterday at TBO and once again did the MFC proud. This event is extremely well received by the kids and parents an the Auskick coaches, regardless of which AFL team they support. They again commented very positively on the MFC boys!

The players were pretty up beat and obviously happy after a big breakthrough win. They all said they have been confident despite not winning and that spirit has been good! Their comments are genuine as no coaches or officials there and they enjoy the time with the kids.

Plenty of banter as well and relaxed. Couple of points of interest:-

we ribbed Greenie about having too many possessions - we was walking a bit slowly as we we going in:

chatted to brock about his performance on before the game - he hasnt go his jason pillow yet

Aaron confirmed his knee is OK just a bit sore ( had been in bay earler)

Wheats pulled up fine although his shoulder is not 100%

two of my boys play for East Brighton Vampires and found out Danny Hughes did up to under 14's but Matty Wranock played for East Sandy so we revived a bit of competition

We congratulated Belly on his year and the great tackle on Welsh. He didnt know was on the highlights. We saw a number of other demon fans also telling Belly how well he has been playing.

I chatted to Michael Newton & told him everyone on demonland pushing his case. He is happy with how things are going.

Jared Rivers looked to be moving freely taking kids for drills.

Robbo & Whitey still kings of the kids!

Everyone looking forward to Q B'day and the colliwobles!!!! :D

Oi, I'm only thinking about the future of his club!

Do you want lots of great F/S selections, or not?

There is no 'I' in team...:lol:

He he...I like Jaded am not a he and totally agree with her...I would take one for the team if it were Brock (but Brock only!).

All the boys on big footy keep saying they want to do it with him anyway...we are not immune to his charms either y'know! Imagine all the father/sons we could have - we'd have to rename the club as the Mclean Demons. has a nice ring to it!!

we'd have to mate him with all sorts of girls...tall with strong hands, short fast and agile, and stocky with a good engine...

Funny comment about Adem Yze and Aaron Davey being disinterested, at the functions I have been to over the years, Aaron usually has to be peeled away from the kids, I suppose it does get demanding from time to time on the guy.

I suspect Aaron is still pretty young at heart as well.

Adem Yze (and Matty Whelan) spoke directly to my young bloke, so much so that Yze is now his favorite player, we now have to put no 13 on his jumper. Funny thing happened when Wheels asked my son if he was his favorite too, my son went "Nah" and walked off, Ooze cracked up at that!

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
