Spot on with the best 23. And it solidifies my belief that we need 2 midfielders in this draft. Our list is totally imbalanced.

We have an element of key forward depth in Melksham, Fullarton, Jefferson and Kentfield, but where is the midfield depth? Woey and Laurie haven't set the world on fire, whilst Brown is unproven and Billings isn't up to it.

It also shows how poor our list managment has been recently. Aside from Melksham and Campbell who are 33, I have no confidence in any of the depth players to fulfill a role in our starting 23.

Agree with all except I would have Sparrow starting on interchange as first midfield rotation and Melk or Spargs in for Sharp who is an unknown at this stage.  See what he can do with a few games at Casey perhaps.

As good as Tmac was this year, I think he should be depth.  Howes needs to come in as that third tall defender or we back in Jefferson up forward pushing Turner back.

I think they will try Salem as a mid again, I liked AMW when he played another preseason and I reckon he will claim a spot

do we have confirmation that deakyn smith is going back to casey this year?

I see Rivers starting at half back but also in the midfield rotation.

Ruthless? With Tassie coming in, we have already seen clubs moving on older players and others shown as being not quite up to AFL lists.  Some have been brutal.

Whilst a lot of water to go under the bridge, “on current age and form/performance”, there is potentially a larger turnover ahead.  I do think some guys were lucky to hold onto a list spot.  Maybe it was to keep some stability and also that the Dees were not well placed to attract players.

Looking ahead … to the end of season 2025…potential changes

retirement… McDonald, Melksham

sitting on the edge are …potentially delistings 🔪 would include some of (or all of) … Spargo, Hore, Billings, Laurie, Fullarton, McAdam, Verrall, Sestan, Adams, Kentfield

PICKET SUSP Till round 4

I know that's my best team not rnd 1 team. Rnd 1 team is Melksham into the 18 and Tholstrup to become sub.

With preseason training and Cal's phantom draft coming out I've picked my best 23 and Casey best 23.

B: Lever, May, McDonald

HB: Salem, Petty, McVee

C: Windsor, Rivers, Langdon

HF: Petracca, Turner, Pickett

F: Fritsch, van Rooyen, Jefferson

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

IC: Bowey, Sparrow, Langford, Chandler

SUB: Sharp

EMERG: Melksham, Allen, Tholstrup

Casey

B: Hore, Adams, D.Smith

HB: Howes, Andrew, Moniz-Wakefield

C: Woewodin, Laurie, Brown

HF: Spargo, Fullerton, Sestan

F: McAdam, Kentfield, Melksham

FOLL: Campbell, Tholstrup, Allen

IC: Mentha, Verrall, Henderson, Billings

Best 22:

Mcvee May Lever

Rivers Petty Salem

Langdon Oliver Windsor

Tholstrup Van Rooyen Chandler

Pickett Jefferson Fritsch

Gawn Viney Petracca

Sparrow Disco Bowey Langford

Next 18:

Hore Adams Andrew

Howes Tmac Moniz-Wakefield

Sharp Woewodin Brown

Sestan Fullarton Billings

Mcadam Kentfield Melksham

Verrall Allan Laurie

The ones I found very hard to leave out of the 22 were Howes, Moniz-Wakefield, Sharp and Tmac. Could easily see all 3 of those players in our best 22.

The 4 players most at risk to lose their spot would be Jefferson, Tholstrup, Bowey and Langford.

Round 1 team

B: Lever, May, McVee

HB: Salem, Petty, Bowey

C: Windsor, Rivers, Langdon

HF: Petracca, Turner, Chandler

F: Fritsch, van Rooyen, Melksham

FOLL: Gawn, Oliver, Viney

IC: Allan, Langford, Sparrow, Tholstrup

SUB: Sharp

EMERG: McDonald, Jefferson, Howes

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
