We can't claim him 'at this time' as we don't have a spare spot on our list. And we may never have [in 2026].

True but I’m referring to circumstances where the opening up a spare spot can be enabled if a player retires.

Gawd.. just bite the bullet and put either Viney, McAdam as LTI or possibly retire May and GET HIM IN!

Can he or any other listed Casey player play this week as it’s not a offical practice match?

Casey have a practice much directly following the dees game on friday night if I'm not mistaken. He'll presumably play then.

PF - I was told last week, in no uncertain terms, and by numerous DL'ers including WJ, that there is no LTI.

Only an Inactive list; a player placed on this list is out for the year.

A club cannot place a player on the Inactive list unless the player is in agreement.

I very much doubt that Viney would agree to being out for the year.

McAdam or May retire? TC or other? Maybe.

No they cant as we dont have a list spot available.

Reason why Hawks had the two SPP train on players play today against Geelong was pretty much an auditioning to fill in the available list spot they currently have.

Usually this is as simple as getting an approval from the AFL for SPP players to play in the AFL practice games.

Similar to our very own Jack Henderson playing for West Coast last year against Richmond.

Pick him up as a rookie work on his weaknesses for 2-3 years.

His fitness is not great lets whip him into shape.

If he doesn’t respond to the work and doesn’t progress let him go.

If the boy has talent we must give him a shot at it surely.

An achilles injury is usually a full year out.

Will be fuming if we miss out on Ah-mu if McAdam, Maysie or JV7 dont contribute at all this year.

AH-Mu is like Yze, nice story but not enough strengths to make the next step, no one has worried about what yze is up to since he kicked 7 once

There's lots of thing you can teach a new recruit. But you can't teach extreme pace or extreme size (either tall or bulk)

I think the first handful of games in the VFL will tell the tale.

By then it might be too late.

That’s what concerns me a bit. If we don’t take him if a spot opens and he really improves, we may lose our chance, but then again there is the mid season draft and if he committed to us that would probably secure him.

Of course he could be miles off being an AFL Player and that could become evident at Casey.

I guess we will find out in time.

If we were playing 1980’s style footy a big bulky man mountain with burst speed, solid hips and great mits would be the go… and Ah-Mu would be in demand.

But it’s not, and he’s a long way of the athletic profile and capabilities require to thrive in the AFL.

Even Plugger would struggle with 2026 style footy, given the effort required up and down the field all day, and that you can no longer bulldoze players dropping into the space ahead of you to “clear” your space.

Curious what others have seen in Ah-Man’s brother..?

I've posted on his brother before, the below is from November 2025:

"[A]t this stage he’s a bit of a unicorn. He’ll be in Year 11 next year and he’s already measuring in at 200cm, he’s grown around 4 - 5 cms this season and he’s been playing as a winger and mid.

He’s a raw talent, but exceptionally athletically gifted, though he’ll need to work on his craft over the next couple of seasons.

That being said, I’ve heard him first-handedly described as “elite for his age” and that “he’ll play AFL” (verbatim) by a couple of people who work in the Haileybury footy department."
