    With pick swapping, unfortunately the Dees are now out of the frame for Hynes.  He’s likely to go at live pick 18-20 so GWS, Tigers or Swans most likely his destination.

    Well it’s still possible if they dearly want a player for specific needs or if they very unwisely try to split pick 9. Not the year to do it I don’t think.

    The Age reporting there's still interest for Cooper Hynes. It would have made a lot of sense when we had the second rounder but I just think reaching for him at pick 9 is a tad too far with the amount of talent we'll have to choose from

    This might be far too low for Hynes, who could go as high as Melbourne’s second pick, with West Coast and Port Adelaide among his admirers. The common retort about the powerful Stingrays product is that he has the widest draft range of any player. Formed a great one-two punch with Harvey Langford, and they often switched between the forward line and midfield. There are some lofty AFL comparisons for him, from Cam Zurhaar to even Clayton Oliver. Hynes’ endurance needs to improve, but his forward and clearance craft are rated highly.

    Would not mind it one bit if we took him with 9.

    Enormous upside in terms that he could genuinely explode in the next couple of years with his sheer power and strength.  

    Probably similar to Chard Warner who was a 3rd round draft pick.

    It's such a jason Taylor thing to do to reach for a particular player they like.

    I wonder if player x is available at 9 that we would take but if Richmond really want would they offer 11 and 18 or 20 for 9. As example we may plan to take Armstrong but be willing to let them trade up if they really wanted him seeing the combo of Shanahan (11) and Hynes (18)as greater overall value.

    Wow. The sellout of five picks including future first round 2025 for “9” to get Hynes would be optimistic or perhaps beyond this … misti-optic!!! He’s very good.  But he’s a HFF/mid.  “9” will need to be our second star.  I do admit I do like Hynes style of aggressive play but imv others appeal more at 9. 

    Ps We might split “9” for Eagles 12 & 26.  Surely then Hynes comes into play.  Lindsay, Hotton or Hynes at “12” (15) then elite defender next gen best CHB James Barrat or Clancy Dennis  at “26” (32)

    What I like about Hynes is that he has great power (which we always value highly) and he plays the game an odd way. He does weird things on the field, sort of like a Nate Caddy or Jake Stringer does. When you’re looking for ways to create goals and be dangerous, it’s sometimes the players who do weird things that can make a difference. I think Hynes would be in part exhilarating and infuriating, but sometimes you need that element in your forward line.

    The power in his game is very enticing.

    It's the power that I love, but it's a great call RE "weird things". He's definitely unpredictable. That's kind of what I was getting at with my Stevie J comparison early on.

    Maybe, but I genuinely believe that we actually could use pick 9 on him.

    In terms of talent there is actually not much of a difference between him and the talent around the pick 8-13 mark. In fact, I'm surprised he's not rated that highly based on his numbers and form this year.

    Agree, he stands out whenever I see him play. Will be a beast when he gets midfield fitness under him.

    Another I quite like around this range is Berry, do you have any insights into him?

    Just looks a classy player with toughness and skill. More than just a small forward for mine.

    If we want Hynes, simply draft him at 9 to ensure we get him (depending on who else is on the board). Simples.

    Yeah we've interviewed Berry for sure. I don't have too much of an update on how much of an interest we have in him.

    The two bushie boys I know we've spoken to a fair bit since their season ended are Josh Murphy, Ben Kennedy and Ollie Warburton.

      Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

      The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day.
