When sitting in my seat at the MCG watching the umpires continue to give the Demons a hard time, I became amused when a person yelled - bring back Darren Goldspink.

Well, this fan has his wish. According to SEN, he is back and will be officiating the Melbourne vs Adelaide game. Let's just hope he gives us a fair go.

Good luck Darren and welcome back.

cant do as bad a job as mclaren. i swear that man umpires as if he has never watched a game of footy in his life and is trying to interpert the rules as he goes. he doesnt have any feeling for the game at all. for an umpire who is supposed to be experienced he really comes across as someone who wants to be in the spotlight, who loves controling things and who doesnt quite understand the jist of the rules. he might know them well enough but he doesnt have that feeling for them to know when to apply them.

in all honesty, i think the umpires should go back to having no numbers, their names not mentioned anywhere. by giving the umpires personality the afl has made them individuals, while the umpires should actually be just one entity. what happens to players with personalities? we love to hate em. we dont need any other reason to hate umpires so why single them out?

I prefer McLaren to Goldspink.

McLaren just doesn't have a clue either way, whereas Goldspink tries to have the biggest influence on a game that is humanly possible.

goldspink single-handedly cost the hawks a spot in the 2001 grand final.

McLaren should be dropped to the Warragul Under 5's. His performance on the weekend was laughable. A joke of an umpire, and Hird was dead right to publicly critisize him.

Posted

worst part is, goldspink rewards the teams that are disciplined and straight down the line, no backchat etc. which is exactly what we have not done this year, and on the weekend, despite me still thinking mclaren is a ..., was probably our least discplined performance. if it is repeated on the weekend and the crows don't do anythign silly, goldspink will haunt us.

What have the following 4 men got in common?

Darren Goldspink

Mark Risciutto

Nathan Buckley

Nathan Brown(WB)

They all made their comeback against Melb, and had a big influence on the result!

(Hopefully a negative influence from half-fit players!)

Pinky Spinky....

Neale... give Aaron special instructions.... You can go anywhere on the ground as long as you have a KP player like Neitz between you and Goldspink... Be warned Aaron that if he gets so much as a sniff of you:

First - He'll pay a free against you for waving to your Mum...

Second - He'll pay fifty for having a "disrespectful look" on your face...

Third - He'll report you for Grievous Bodily Harm after you try to pluck out his eyeballs with the blunt end of his whistle while screaming "HERE DARREN!!! LET ME IMPROVE YOUR EYESIGHT!!!!"

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
