We made a statement today and so did someone else by not making a statement. He’s looking more gone by the day.

He’s going nowhere this year. He needs to build a bridge and get over himself and work with the rest of the leadership group on getting back into contention.
We won’t trade him with 5 years left, without giving ourselves the opportunity to turn things around first.

Not so sure anymore. The whole club celebrated today except for one guy. You can’t deny the serious possibility.

Me neither. But unlike Doggas situation, we hold all the cards so I’m not that stressed about it.

Worst case is he goes and we will get 2-3 really good picks that will help us for 10+ years vs the 3-4 good years he has got left.

Happy to deal him to a club he doesn’t want to go to.

Plus where does he expect to go? there are maybe 2-3 teams in the entire competition that could both afford him and have any sort of hope of satisfying us in what would probably be the biggest trade return in AFL history.

i'm guessing he doesn't want to go to North, RIchmond or West Coast

That'd be a twist in the tale that he goes to the team that overlooks him, also pretty handy if we had picks 5,6,7 23 and a future first from them

I really feel for Trac, and this situation seems impossible to fairly judge without all the information. I’m sure there’s a lot going on behind closed doors. I do think it’s pretty hard not to read something into this, but I think some compassion for Trac is definitely needed here. He’s been through a hellish experience, the club would have lost a lot of his trust in the way it was handled, and his distancing himself could just be his way of protecting himself from reliving all the trauma. We’ve been told he’s dissatisfied with the “direction” the club’s going in - notably not with Goody - which to me sounds like an excuse more than anything. He’s hurt, and he just can’t deal with us right now … that’s my highly speculative take, anyway! I hope the club’s  taking his mental health seriously because I get the sense that minimising what he’s been through in any way would be the final straw.

I think long term, not short term.

I can't see the value in us handing better draft picks to the Suns, Pies and Dons. (And worsening our own picks.)

I think we should blood : Jefferson, Adams, Verrall, Farris-White.

Give Woey and other kids more game time.

Rest ANB - he's not our future.

The idea that we should blood kids against the filth, who are playing for a finals spot, is so absurd that it discredits anything you have to offer.

If we were going to debut Jefferson it would have happened by now. We are playing next week to win and to cruel their finals aspirations. It's not a time for experimentation.

Why didn’t Trac travel?

He just started WALKING around the Tan last week. He hasn’t been to games in Melbourne. Why TF would he go to this one?

Everyone understands that he went through a traumatic experience, but it feels like he’s trying to find someone to blame when unfortunately bad things happen sometimes. The AFL medicos have ticked it off and confirmed that proper processes were followed. I’m sure if the Drs had their time again or had the beauty of hindsight they would have done things differently, but they’re human as is Trac. There’s no way they forced him out on the field without his consent.

What are you talking about? He was at the game last week at the MCG. He’s been in Noosa for weeks prior to that.

It’s well reported now that senior players were unhappy with him being in Noosa instead of being involved at the club. This week, the club flew everyone up. May didn’t go because of his rib injury, but once again, Petracca has let this group down again by not getting involved. As far as I can tell, and what I’ve been told, for Christian it’s all “me me me” at the moment.

Oh absolutely, agree with this 100%. I assume he’s still processing the accident and possibly having to manage other people’s emotions (fiancée, family etc) as well, which would be taxing. I also don’t envy the doctors - this would be ****ty for them too.

They’d be stupid as hell to do it as they need every one of those picks to turnover their average list.

Maybe he was told to stay away today.
The whole situation is a very public middle finger to Max, Jack, and the club.
I did notice that Jack did the "trac flex" after he kicked his goal today. I don't think that was a coincidence.

I like Trac's proactive approach. Unhappy with our direction so he goes out and recruits Lauchie Neale. Should make for a decent ANB replacement.

Now your talking!

if he is to go, i am very curious to see who on earth could put a package that is worth it for us

i can't see him being willing to leave victoria, so that already limits the scope of players

someone like the peptides would love him, no doubt, but there's no way a package of parish, wright, 2024 and 2025 1st round picks would cut it for mine - but that's the sort of package likely that would need to put together, primarily cos it's not just 'value for trac' but 'salary cap management'

he's on over $1m a year for the next five years...there's no free agents that we can throw exorbitant cap space at to square the ledger

i just can't see how it can happen

Steven May?

Maysie’s partner is due to give birth any day now, she’s already overdue. He’s hardly gonna travel interstate thereby risking missing the birth all for nothing since he can’t play anyways.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
