This is so depressing. How the [censored] am I going to explain it to my 5 year old if Trac leaves. He will be shattered and his old man wonโ€™t be far behind.ย

ย

All fine for him to be unhappy about certain things, but pretty [censored] poor to not get behind the boys after today.ย

If youโ€™re not part of the solution, youโ€™re part of the problem. Expected at least a social media โ€˜likeโ€™ or re-post of the great win.ย
Wonder how his management will spin this. Canโ€™t be good for the brand.ย

We made a statement today and so did someone else by not making a statement. Heโ€™s looking more gone by the day.ย

Heโ€™s going nowhere this year. He needs to build a bridge and get over himself and work with the rest of the leadership group on getting back into contention.ย
We wonโ€™t trade him with 5 years left, without giving ourselves the opportunity to turn things around first.ย

Not so sure anymore. The whole club celebrated today except for one guy. You canโ€™t deny the serious possibility.

I don't think Pert and Petracca will be at the club next year.

I know which one i would prefer.

Are you saying itโ€™s one or the other?ย

Me neither. But unlike Doggas situation, we hold all the cards so Iโ€™m not that stressed about it.

Worst case is he goes and we will get 2-3 really good picks that will help us for 10+ years vs the 3-4 good years he has got left.

Happy to deal him to a club he doesnโ€™t want to go to.

Plus where does he expect to go? there are maybe 2-3 teams in the entire competition that could both afford him and have any sort of hope of satisfying us in what would probably be the biggest trade return in AFL history.ย

i'm guessing he doesn't want to go to North, RIchmond or West Coast

Saints will get josh battle compo and have Picks 5, 6, 23 and Future picks by the look of it. Tracc at the Saints: Flag Kilda 2025.ย

That'd be a twist in the tale that he goes to the team that overlooks him, also pretty handy if we had picks 5,6,7 23 and a future first from them

I really feel for Trac, and this situation seems impossible to fairly judge without all the information. Iโ€™m sure thereโ€™s a lot going on behind closed doors. I do think itโ€™s pretty hard not to read something into this, but I think some compassion for Trac is definitely needed here. Heโ€™s been through a hellish experience, the club would have lost a lot of his trust in the way it was handled, and his distancing himself could just be his way of protecting himself from reliving all the trauma. Weโ€™ve been told heโ€™s dissatisfied with the โ€œdirectionโ€ the clubโ€™s going in - notably not with Goody - which to me sounds like an excuse more than anything. Heโ€™s hurt, and he just canโ€™t deal with us right now โ€ฆ thatโ€™s my highly speculative take, anyway! I hope the clubโ€™s ย taking his mental health seriously because I get the sense that minimising what heโ€™s been through in any way would be the final straw.

I think long term, not short term.

I can't see the value in us handing better draft picks to the Suns, Pies and Dons. (And worsening our own picks.)

I think we should blood : Jefferson, Adams, Verrall, Farris-White.

Give Woey and other kids more game time.

Rest ANB - he's not our future.

ย ย

The idea that we should blood kids against the filth, who are playing for a finals spot, is so absurd that it discredits anything you have to offer.

If we were going to debut Jefferson it would have happened by now. We are playing next week to win and to cruel their finals aspirations. It's not a time for experimentation.

Why didnโ€™t Trac travel?

He just started WALKING around the Tan last week. He hasnโ€™t been to games in Melbourne. Why TF would he go to this one?

Everyone understands that he went through a traumatic experience, but it feels like heโ€™s trying to find someone to blame when unfortunately bad things happen sometimes. The AFL medicos have ticked it off and confirmed that proper processes were followed. Iโ€™m sure if the Drs had their time again or had the beauty of hindsight they would have done things differently, but theyโ€™re human as is Trac. Thereโ€™s no way they forced him out on the field without his consent.

What are you talking about? He was at the game last week at the MCG. Heโ€™s been in Noosa for weeks prior to that.

Itโ€™s well reported now that senior players were unhappy with him being in Noosa instead of being involved at the club. This week, the club flew everyone up. May didnโ€™t go because of his rib injury, but once again, Petracca has let this group down again by not getting involved. As far as I can tell, and what Iโ€™ve been told, for Christian itโ€™s all โ€œme me meโ€ at the moment.

Oh absolutely, agree with this 100%. I assume heโ€™s still processing the accident and possibly having to manage other peopleโ€™s emotions (fiancรฉe, family etc) as well, which would be taxing. I also donโ€™t envy the doctors - this would be ****ty for them too.

Theyโ€™d be stupid as hell to do it as they need every one of those picks to turnover their average list.

  • REPORT: Collingwood

It was yet another disappointing outcome in a disappointing year, with Melbourne missing the finals for the second consecutive season. Indeed, it wasnโ€™t even close, as the Demons' tally of seven wins was less than half the number required to rank among the top eight teams in the competition. When the dust of the game settled and supporters reflected on Melbourne's ย six-point defeat at the hands of close game specialists Collingwood, Max Gawn's words about his teamโ€™s unfulfilled potential rang true โ€ฆ well, almost.ย
