Sorry everyone

Had too watch on delay.

Anyone who defends this performance can count themselves into the reason why we have become irrelevant again as a football club.

We have excepted these same (insert as many $$$#@#$$$$$) as you feel necessary!!!

We are done !!!

We've already lost 15k since 2021. 70k down to 55k. The club did nothing about it. Why would they start now?

Ding ding

Ding Ding

Move to the back of the bus folks... plenty of room .......

And the Reality Bus route 25 keeps rolling along ...

This game encapsulates our decline over the past few seasons. The future looks dark for the next few seasons.

We're kind of living in dead air at the moment. Waiting for some adults to arrive to make some decisions. I hate using amateur hour as a term but if the shoe fits....

There's a difference between a gradual decline and a revolt. Will be interesting to see how many members contact the club - if they have the energy...

I've never considered withholding membership renewal.

after that capitulation i can understand why members would do it.

i know there is a monetary penalty involved but the cost of not sacking him will be far greater.

Another wasted year is not worth the financial hit from paying him out

This club is so [censored] amatuer

You won't be alone

And it probably needs to be done by us all.

Then the club will have to listen.

It's the one real thing that will.make them do something.

I think Goody must know his time is up.

He froze again today and did nothing to stop the rot.

Fritta had clearly disappeared from the game at half time.

He could have.moved KP up fwd rather than having him and Melksham on the bench for the last 3 minutes.

Disgraceful.

Vote with your money/ membership.

It's the best way to.make them do something.

Can we stop blaming Goody as the sole reason every time we lose? The players were woeful. Gave away the game with an infringement. Thats hardly goodys fault

Everyone is to blame. Leadership, midfield, defense, forwards, the moron who subbed Windsor off for Spargo, persisting with Petty up forward, nobody going near NWM in the last quarter, that putrid 6-6-6 infringement, Kosi and Melksham standard on the bench in the last like they aren’t MATCH WINNERS.

I have run out of things that be mad about.

2025 has been a [censored] disaster from start to finish and something has to give

The stubbornness of Goody playing Petty fwd for two years now is mind blowing.

Week after week and month after month we've all called it out.

But nup. Goody just keeps doubling down.

I hope today he's doubled down on a new job at McDonald's.

How can AFL standard player have so little impact, yet look so gassed every contest.

Whoever knocked back Adelaide's offer 2 years ago should go with Goodwin, Richardson, Williams,

Maxy was on the front bar during the week joking about why he won't take a bounce during a game because he wants to keep that record intact as the only player never to do it. He thinks it's a record that won't be broken for a long time into the future.

Well now he's part owner of another record, albeit unwanted where his team have thrown away the largest margin at 3/4 time.

That casual discussion about records shows our players are conscious of their actions and there's no way they could be unintentionally that bad. I have to hope that was a statement of protest?

Shameful shameful performance by Melbourne and an utterly inept display of mismanagement. I didn't think it was possible to lose from there, but this is Melbourne and the only conclusion I can have is that players want change.

Shame on you Melbourne coaches. If it's the same bunch of clowns coaching next year then I can't support this team it is indefensible to lose that game.

You want to rob Williams of his pension??

He is so funny to me. We've got absolute [censored], uncredentialled line coaches, and a flag-winning development coach who appears to do absolutely nothing useful in training or on game day. Just throws taped up footys at blokes.

I am ready to walk right now, right into the ocean

Here's the thing.

Who will sack him ??

It's not a trick question... not really.... though figuring an answer is tricky indeed.

This is far from ideal as a predicament .

Another league record for the Dees ..

Way to go Dees

Could this be the loss that finally gets the board to sack Goodwin?

If it is, then I look at today’s game as a necessary evil. A pity that it had to come to this.

We need to have a fire sale at years end. This club is very rotten

Our onfield leadership is a joke. Gawn, Viney, Petracca, Oliver, TMac, Petty, Melksham, Salem etc "leaders" across every line and you let that happen? When your opponent has kicked 3 or 4 in a row and they need another 4 with 10 minutes left you don't play quick, you don't hit the ball into space; you slow it down you look for repeat contests, you take time off the clock. Ball up in the middle and Gawn belts it out of there it goes through Oliver's hands and into space for the Saints players to run onto. Just a complete lack of leadership across the club from top to bottom.

You're not going to hear me try and argue that the players aren't part of the problem, but this is Goodwin's team. He's been in the box seat for long enough that the lack of leadership is on him - we just made history in the worst of ways.

Maybe Goodwin's wildly unlucky and has inherited/recruited the footballers with the worst leadership in AFL history to ever grace the field, but I reckon it's more likely the leadership failings come down to the coaching box. We're bottom four with what was once a decent list, coach must be accountable for that.

If anyone comes on here and tries to justify why Goodwin should because "oh but the players love him!" then you are every bit part of the problem.

The club cannot sell any positive spin unless its to say that hes been given the flick. Until then, its all just trash and spin.

The senior players were woeful in that last quarter. Gawn had a mare with his tap work.

But, I've defended him for a long time, thank you for your brilliant service, Goody, time's up.

He should go back to Adelaide and take Petty with him.

Generally I don’t even read this thread because I’ve been a Goodwin fan, and moreover I thought he was a certainty to coach in 2026.

However,

Surely it’s hard to survive that.

Biggest comeback in history. This was not against Geelong down the highway or Brisbane at the Gabba. No, it was against a team that had lost five straight and twelve out of the last fourteen. A team we somehow let score two goals in the final 8 seconds.

Simply inexcusable.

Of course, this game alone doesn’t seal his fate but couple it with the failures since 2021 (and let’s be honest, most years prior to 2021 as well) I think the time has come.

Yes, thank you for 2021 and forever a Demons legend for that alone.

But I think he needs to resign tomorrow.

You just wait, someone will post that in no time. Give it to tomorrow morning.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
