I do wish Goodie would actually say something in his pressers instead of just sound bites and sweat nothings.

I wish Goodwin would do the right thing by the club and leave, he won one flag, should have won three, been there 9 years, last 4 have been utter rubbish, sick of it, sick of him.

I found his post presser today exciting. He was clear and urgent in wanting to pursue (as quickly as possible) the new game plan and meld the senior players with the new to get our next premiership side.

He spoke specifically about Max, Viney and Trac all having plenty of time to win another premiership. The player he conspicuously left out was Clarry, and rightly so IMO.

Can you see Max playing past 2027? Even 2027 looks like a stretch.

Injury permitting, he looks like he could have 2-3 seasons left.

I have 16 locks for our 22 next year and then I have 7-8 senior players with question marks over them.

Trac, Clarry, Lever, May, Viney, Fritta, Salem and even Petty.

List management at the end of '25 is huge. As is getting a top midfield coach (Cam Bruce?), maybe even a new forward coach and a new head of footy. Possibly too much change, but we'll see.

We won't and shouldn't move on all of those senior players either, but surely 1, 2 or even 3 will go. This will also mean we need to get active in the FA market and recruiting at least 1, probably 2 first rounders in the so called weaker and conpromised draft.

There's no reason we can't be playing finals in 2026 if we pull the right levers.

As the commentators said today, kick straight the last 4 weeks and we'd have another 4 wins and be sitting on 9 wins. But as Goody said in his presser, obviously it's an outcome based industry and we have to start winning, however the really positive signs are the results against the really top teams in the comp.

Brisbane, Collingwood, Hawthorn and Adelaide. We dominated all four teams at various stages. Should have won 2, possibly 3. We've been in all these games, but it's the consistency that we haven't been able to get.

We can complain that I'm making excuses all we like, but there are genuine factors in seeing a shift in game style take place and get results.

It is not unreasonable to think things can turn quickly in 2026.

We have won 6 of our last 22 games.

It's is hard to fathom really, and unacceptable.

I doubt this board is capable of making a critical call on this in terms of it being unacceptable. Voss will probably go long before Simon so is the amount of heat he's under.

As with all things MFC, the board often wilts under pressure and signs existing coaches too early and too long. Usually to the club's detriment. Rather than playing the wait-and-see game which was what we should have done after the second straight sets exit in 2023.

What we are witnessing now is a club in a slow motion death spiral, on and off the field.

With the MFC board, as it so often does, having gone to ground with its head in the sand. Not a peep from any of the top brass about this consecutive year of horribilus.

At some stage they'll be presented with the financial and 2026 fixture impact though.

$ issues usually cut through and clarify things and force outcomes, even on the most complacent.

I appreciated the presser too. But I didn’t think of not mentioning Clarry as a commentary on him or his play, rather he’s only 27 and the other guys are all a bit older.

Surely he can now take your man Jefferson with him. Christ Picket, his game today was worse than bad. Zero impact.

Separate issue! Stick to the thread!

Goody should be cactus delecti

Listening to his presser of copy & paste it appears that the strategy around list mgt is on drafting in young talent vs trading in experienced players vs what the cats, pies & lions are doing to still be contending for another flag but what would they know! Whatever talent is left will retire or ask to be traded waiting on Goodwin rebuild and watching the cats , pies & lions winning multiple flags

“… cactus delecti“, only on Demonland! 😂

Goody spoke with empathy toward those long suffering supporters. He explained what they are working to do, and acknowledged that there are some good signs and frustrating signs.

I’m still with him and happy for him to coach on.

Go Demons.

A very accurate precis imo.

How sad and frustrating that the powers that be would rather do nothing in case they did 'something' !!! A moribund paralysis.

The petrification of gentrification .

Aka. Gutless wusses

After listening to Goodwins presser, it feels like he genuinely believes his own spin. At the start of the year he talked up finals as the bare minimum, now we are "building" (re-building) for the next flag. He is hoping for the best and has no idea, he relies on effort to keep us in games.

He depends on Petracca/Oliver (who don't even look like they want to be here) to be the competitive beasts and lessen the likelihood for a beating. He seems to think they are the nucleus for the next flag, when IMO he should try a half/game where Rivers, McVee, Langford, Lindsay, Bowey are the frontline mids. The beasts of old will find their mojo out on the flanks, they are done in the midfield. Viney as a defensive forward full time (and leave him there).

To think we have had a relatively easy draw, pretty good run re injuries the fact is many have regressed. He is a limited coach and we need a fresh voice. I guess the same people who were excited by yesterdays presser, was excited re finals talk before the season and excited for all the other spin of last few years. 6 wins from last 22, 2 x bottom 4/5 finishes incoming, all with a fair chunk of premiership players on the list. No first round pick this year either.

That lays it all pretty bare, doesn’t it

No doubt the club requires a freshen up.

I would bring Ken Hinkley in to oversee the football programme and staff.

A man like Ken doesn’t become available often , I have advised the club to take action, but again we are hamstrung without a CEO who has boots on the ground.

Reminds me of the death spiral we went into after the 2000 Grand Final

Some damning stats. He needs to go at end of season.

Would Love to hear any arguments someone could make in favor of him being in charge next year

Waste another season

Good o is not in charge, Richo is in the box.

Are we getting value out of Choco, or Casey, or Jonesy having played with the Three amigos and not introducing new plays,

Fitness staff, throwing thousands at basketballers

There is a lot to work on, not just match plays or selection.

Chipping at the edges is pointless.

He is a premiership coach comes to mind.

Some people won't or can't move on from 2021.

Perhaps a buyout of his contract can be negotiated. Ask AFL if we can spread the cost over say 5 years for soft cap.

We can't have another summer of Goody. No one's gonna want to rock up for this same [censored] different week performances. Including the fans.

can we send him to demon shop or make up some random bs job like the government or the cats would do?

Be the co-MC with Robbo on game day at the G. Can you imagine how funny would that be?

Goody believes in reincarnation? Now that is exciting!

Goody “we know where the club at and where building a premiership list”

Supporters “ we know where the club at heading for a decade of bottom four”

Goody must be the smartest man in the room because our best players are nearing the end and our youngest players seem a mile off it. He is the master of selling hope sure hope he right.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
