Hypothetically if Geelong said they were willing to trade us SDK, do we still say no?

Clarry will never be the player he once was due to his inability to behave and put it the effort to get his mind and body right

He became the player he was all the while with some misbehaving tendencies. His behaviour is not new. He will very likely return to his best if not better. I’ve had every theory under the sun in the last month but it does appear the club is keeping him

Anyone remember the good old days when the only media footy gossip we got over summer was the 5 minute long Bemm River Report every Sunday on World of Sport with Jack Dyer and Louie The Lip?

Or....who was signed on the infamous Form Four??

He has not always been President.

Maybe you are of the opinion that the directors have done a good job in recent years in their oversite of the business. I do not think they have performed their roles to the standards expected.

Based on what examples demoniac, have you sat in on board meetings, aren’t we paying our creditors on time aren’t we investing our Profits wisely, aren’t we paying our Taxes and our players and Footy Department. Tell me where our club has failed, where have we failed to meet your standards????

I feel like this myself to be honest - would seriously hurt the eyeballs.

I'd rather keep him still and pay $200k to full time mentor.  Try and get someone like a James McDonald around him to keep him on the straight and narrow.

Yes, its an additional cost but I don't really care.  Having him at his best is worth it IMO and I can't be bothered going through a rebuild.

Should he need a mentor and more support, no, he shouldn't, he's an adult.  But some people just need the additional support and sadly, there are always two sets of rules around 'culture' in sporting clubs.  One set for the superstars and one set for the remaining players.

I have no idea how many stuff ups Clayton has made and refuse to believe some of the [censored] in the media/social media.  I find it amazing hearing all of these naughty things he is apparently doing with no footage of it - especially when he is clearly identifiable and the whole world now have access to filming content on there phones.

I do know meeting him a couple times that he has a very alert, excited and energised look to him which I think would be misconstrued for him being up to no good.  He has had the look to him since he was a child.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I think reading here somewhere, he was super keen on a trip to the US or something to get super fit in readiness for the new season.

Hopefully he can get through all of this noise and remain 100% committed to this and get back to his best in 2025.

I still have faith he can get there.

200k goes no where near keeping eyes on someone full-time. Start at $1,000,000 and work up from there.

I don’t want to see Oliver go but if he is determined to leave then yes. Oliver for Geelong’s future first and SDK. We then use the surplus salary to bring in Jack McRae or Luke Parker to cover us while the young guns mature. Both are like-for-like replacements based on Oliver’s form this year.

Any leftover salary then goes to paying out Brayshaw’s full term contract to free up salary space for next year.

I think that would be a win for the Dees.

Let me ask a simple question, was Clayton Oliver spitting in the faces of every Melbourne supporter who backed him in this year and spoke face to face with him at the B&F, including myself, it would have been easier for him not to attend surely.

Sorry, you want to sign two ageing bench players?

Mate his behaviour off field has escalated massively. Can't powder coat it anymore.

He will never be the same and if Geelong a stupid enough, then let him go for SDK

If reports are true of him willing to take a pay cut for a trade, then his true colours have come out.... finally

FC needs to at least ask the question

Carlton, Collingwood, Port have all gotten better over the FA, Trade period so far

If Oliver is indeed trying to force Melbourne's hand, I just hope the club stands firm.

Geelong have nothing to offer in terms of trading or draft picks which would come anywhere near Oliver's value as a player.

If he then refused to play for us, he would be in breach of contract, potentially leading to a fine and/or non-payment of his salary. That would be more of a legal and financial nightmare for Oliver than for the club.

The AFL really ought to be investigating Geelong for such a blatant attempt to poach a contracted player from another club.

In my view director's responsibilities are more involved than items in your list.

Just saw Brad Greens tweet. What I took out of that tweet is how annoying it would be going from aami Park to casey

I think a lot of people have stopped at the headline and not listened to the full discussion. To be fair, that's a bad habit in the media in terms of sensationalising headlines to the point of dishonesty.

Listening to the full context of the segment, at least to me, it comes across as a more figurative sentence rather than a literal description. It's quite an off hand comment in the discussion. In my view, it's speaking more to Oliver mentally checking out from the Demons, as opposed to literally cleaning his locker out.

Free from inspire and his best mate Oxdee

Let me say, if he goes, he goes, no one player is bigger than the team

I would be disappointed given the care the Club has shown him this year.

But would rather have fully committed players, not saying Clarry isn't

But 2025 is a new season and we will have a list, I am pleased more with all the young guys we have re signed, including the bloke I sponsor.

And Fullarton and McAdam will have been told in no uncertain terms where they need to improve, so it will be like having 2 new players and whoever else we sign.

Improve their professionalism or improve as footballers? McAdam will be 30 next year, so I don't see any marked improvement as a footballer. And maybe Fullarton isn't what we hoped he'd be.

I have massive massive concerns about both Fullarton and McAdam.

You can be slight if you are quick or can kick. If you can't do either of those it's a struggle.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
