How can you be sure no one is talking to Morris? Because he [censored] off a few people at the club 10 years ago? Seems like a stretch. Most of the people who are at the club now wouldn't have been there for that episode and the ones who were are probably over it by now.

A lot of the reports to me have felt like clumsy attempts from our side to set the narrative. I think there are people within the club who think they can use the media like a tool to run their agendas.

Max sets the trend with Media Moggots, if he reckons they are, then they are.

I don't care who is leaking to the media , they need to get kicked out asap, certain groups have a good way of dealing with people who open their mouths.

Yes but how do you shut down the player managers???

Barrett just joined The Human Centipede of AFL journalism.

He’s gutter.

Dunning-Kruger expertise .

The snippet from Tom Morris about Oliver's agents approaching the club about being open to a trade midway through the season seems like new news? I mostly read the few bookmarked posters I had here during the year as it's a bit hard to keep up in-season, but that seems like new information does it not? It also goes completely contrary to the club's narrative at that time about him being embraced and 'back in love' with the club.

Oliver obviously had a well below average year by his standards, and 100% completely of his own doing, but I wonder if perhaps things are so bad at the MFC that he wanted out simply due to that?

It certainly exonerates the club somewhat if it was his management that first broached the subject this year

I still don’t think Pert handled this with any care at all mind you

Clazz to request trade due to concerns about Dees culture I'm hearing

Clarry reckons a strong club would have traded him 12 months ago

That would be where most of the leaks are from. Not easy to stop either.

I’m hoping this is a case of geelong not giving up and not Pert STILL shopping him around after everyone confirmed on Friday night he’s not leaving

I'd expect it's the media continuing the narrative for Geelong who they like a LOT more than us.

Stop it your killing me.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Realistically I'd like to see him traded because we simply can't make him/Viney/Petracca work in the middle anymore (We haven't really made that combo work for two years now). I get people are very attached to him and at his peak he was a top 5 player in the league, but the game has changed so much. Personally I'd like the club to cut their losses and move him on but it seems the club thinks clearly nothing is wrong with that midfield, and we'll likely pay dearly for that in the future.

Can he stop kissing the cat's arses for once? Obviously the cats have been leaking to him. It's gross.

Perhaps, but only in terms of exploring a trade post-season. For me, it opens the door (especially after Petracca) that perhaps things have been that bad inside the club that Oliver simply wanted out? I don't know that of course, and we're going by a fairly flippant comment from a journalist, but it's still a concern in my view.

And yes, definitely agree this has been an absolute mess from Pert, no matter which version of the story is true. I would put some weight in @Sir Why You Little's comments about what they've heard about the matter as I've noted in the past he has been seemingly on the money with such things.

The attacks on our club are becoming stupider and stupider who is making up this stuff. You may not like Gary Pert but going on with this vindictive rubbish is more on you than it is on our CEO.

Not many trades poking their heads up so far and a lot of hours to fill so expect the media nuffies to keep going.

Sorry, but which part of my post is vindictive? I don't quite follow your criticism here.

Dining out on gossip FFD determining what is true, always coming down on the side of the poster rather than the victim for starters.

This. The Oliver trade is the only sensational thing happening at the moment. Of course its going to get air time

m8 people are allowed to have opinions about anyone at the club based on publicly available info, most of all the CEO whose primary role it is to provide stability and inspire confidence in the direction of the club

Regardless of what he has or hasn’t done, if he’s not meeting this criteria he’s failing at one of the core parts of his role

Not completely Clarry’s fault.

He could have been held back at the start of the season to gain further fitness that could well have contributed to a better season.

Says who, he is being undermined by a load of rubbish on here that is being spoken as Truth. Why don’t you give Gary a call and ask him for yourself rather than supporting unsubstantiated backstabbing BS on here.

Freed from desire, interesting title. Rather eloquent sentence content and all correct spelling, context etc. School Teacher, media perhaps? Seems to stir the pot just a little with every post. I hate Media Maggots...

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.
