No doubt, but he's not a ruckman. If I went back through the pregame thread would I find you commenting that it was ok to play Petty in the ruck?

You are absolutely missing the point of my discussion.. have another go.

The issue is not starting Petty in the ruck, its the fact he hasn't given a yelp at all when in there. Some od his efforts were ridiculously soft.

Wow how good was that!!!??

Kozzie, classy

Melksham SO SMART

Caleb crazy speed

 fantastic goal

Turner gets pushed into a dangerous contests = no free. Essendon player gets pushed by McVee = Free Kick Essendon!

Why wasn’t Kozzy’s tackle rewarded??? Exact same prior op and lack of disposal. Rules for them and rules for us. Maggot [censored]

Umps won't pay our tackles.

I'd say it's inconsistency but the umps are quite reliable.

You're missing the point. He is not a ruckman. He's doing his best against a top 4 team ruckman.

He isn't going to measure up, in the ruck. Give him a break. You didn't mind the idea pre game. Stick fat

Can the commentators be any more biased towards Essendon? My ears hurt.

Where was Bowey’s pressure then??

disco got a a non free there...

The contact below the knee rule is there to prevent players (Draper) diving at the ball. Yes looks soft and not how the game used to be. But the rule was adjudicated correctly.

Draper should’ve kept his feet.

Pretty frustrating when one of them is Nathan Jones. 🤬

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.
