JEFFO 2!

What a like about Jeffo, he looks like a young man on ground, not a kid. He is bigger and more confident.

JEFFO threads the eye of the needle! Drop punt the choice of true professionals.

Jefferson staking a claim. Had some much better games in recent times. Be a big call to play him against the Lions but he must be close. His body of work is better than Kynan Brown's with regard to selection criteria.

he'd be broken like a twig

needs a massive pre-season before launching into 2025

This is like watching under 10's football..

Was just going to post how much I’m liking the this game day thread due to the lack of insulting behaviour. Then I read this.

I wonder when posters say things like "petty/oliver/fritta etc.) need to go back to the 2nds", if they have any idea that there is zero talent in the ressies ready to replace them?

So you think it's top standard do you and you are right it is insulting to under 10's.

Started the quarter playing great footy then ended up hopeless.

Awful down field free by McAdam to concede a goal, a few dreadful Schache moments and Laurie invisible in the middle.

Should’ve dug in and had a lead or at least be right with North

One team with great accuracy able to find targets at will while Casey continually turn it over.

Yep skills are pretty ordinary in general so far.  Been costly too.

At least three goals directly after sloppy turnovers in that quarter.

Our finish coming inside (eg;  Billings and Moniz) was bog ordinary.

Then you had Shack & Woe going up in a 2 v 1 contest under a bombed ball.  Surely one of them (Woe!?) would recognise it be more sensible to hang off and potentially crumb?

Woe potentially injured out of that.

Where / who are they learning this rubbish forward play from?

Coach killing stuff.

You have a way with words 3165, then complain about how others come back at you.

Have you ever, thought or been told, that your communication style is off putting?

if not, let me be the first….

Yes its dire. Billings, Fullarton, AMW, McAdam, Laurie should all be knocking on the door but are all scratchy at best.

Jeffo has had some good moments and as KC said, Smacca has had some X factor moments too.

I would like to see more of Sestan, the kid could be very good.

I only come back when people don't say why I'm wrong try that for a change it's called discussing a topic as for being off putting don't care don't read or reply if it upsets you if you do reply bring something to the table to talk about.

It was your style of communication I pointed out. Never said you are wrong! But in this case the standard of football is much higher than under 10’s.

But, to be fair to you………….. The standard of this game isn’t exciting me much either.

See what I just did here and pointed out???

Instead of targeting a key fwd in the trade period, we elected to recruit billings and mcadam. We also gave contract extensions to schache and Laurie. All 4 are struggling in the vfl and is a big reason why we are struggling this year.

please keep the game comments coming,  not the dribble

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Western Bulldogs

The Dogs reigned supreme in 2018 with an inaugural AFLW premiership cup and the Demons matched this feat by winning the cup as the Season 7 2022 champions.Meggs wasn’t born when the Doggies won their first VFL premiership cup against the Demons in 1954. Covid prevented many Demons fans from legally witnessing the victorious 2021 AFL Grand Final cup performance between the Demons and the Bulldogs, but we all grin when remembering those magnificent seven third quarter goals.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Hawthorn and Melbourne. Two teams with impressive form from last week but with seasons that are travelling on different trajectories meet in Saturday’s twilight game for what could well be the most intriguing contest of the AFL’s penultimate round. Sadly, the game has been relegated to that unappealing time slot in the weekend when Melburnians are typically preoccupied with activities other than football. It falls between the morning's shopping, afternoon sport and recreation, and Saturday night fever. A time usually reserved for relatively insignificant events but this one is not a nothingburger for either of the clubs or their fans.

In advance of Season 10, the AFL leadership has engaged in candid discussions with all clubs regarding strategies to boost attendance and expand fan bases. Concerningly, average attendances in 2024 were 2,660 fans per match, with the women’s game incurring an annual loss of approximately $50 million.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
