There's been two reasons why. Our club culture since winning the flag, and the players we've recruited from other clubs have all been busts.

there is also incompetence at every level of management including the footy director Green

I hope he has learned and stays away from the football department

BTW what is Smiths' start date

There is a very real possibility we only bring in Mihocek and Heath in this trade period. While we lose 2 of our greats, who now seemingly hate us.

What a sad time for this club.

Sometimes you've got to burn it down to move forward...

This is just burning it down though, it's not moving forward...

Patience grasshopper

Why not Jack Buller? 2 metre key forward. Good for the club. Good for the brand.

Two words when used together that I don’t want to hear again for a long time.

Has pace, in the age bracket we’re looking to bolster. Could be a cheap option for us

He won’t be cheap…………and will probably go to the Blues in a trade for Curnow

I doubt they get more than a 2nd rounder for him

Might be a handy McVee replacement

If Carlton wanted him he’d be in the Curnow deal without being told to look around.

Sydney can’t ask for more than pick 40 I’d imagine, less if his contract is big and they don’t trim it down to value.

He’s a bit positionless since he lost a step of pace. Doesn’t defend well enough for a back pocket, doesn’t bounce it out like a back flank. A bit of experienced depth could help us down back but if it’s a rebuild we probably shouldn’t bother.

Sounds more likely he'll stay at the Swans but an article on the afl website states there were 'murmurs' of him considering a move to Victoria.

25yr old defensive mid. Wouldn't be a bad get in my opinion given we're losing quite a bit of midfield talent.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
