I barely no what that means but all I see is Moore jumping to get height and reach over the top of Tracc and potentially Gawn and executing a textbook spoil. Something Lever, May, McDonald do all the time.

You can go watch netball or basketball if you want non contact sports.

If you dont KNOW what that means then you're in no position to make commentary.

Nice deflection..    Too hard to debate the action ?..   but then... you don't know.

On that ...I think you're right

Sorry mate that's pure B.S  I think we can all agree he's  NOT attempting to mark.

When spoiling you will be trying to get ONE fist ( 99% of the time ) as far through the congestion as possible.  You make your profile effectively as slim as can be.

Here we see Moore doing the opposite. Lifting that knee retards his progress negating the efficiency of the spoil.

No, what you are seeing is opportunistic crash banging to cause hurt.  All eloquently disguises, or not, as a FOOTBALL Act .

Where have we heard that before ??

Hacker Alert!!!

OK, who are you and what have you done with the real Beelzebub??!!

The media pile-on to the MFC goes ahead regardless of facts.  Some are expressing dismay that the Club has not made a strong statement.   I wonder if doing that would have the same effect as feeding trolls in a forum like this.  And yes, I think a lot of footy 'journos' are effectively trolls in search of click-bait, relevance and fortune.

I just watched Simon Goodwins Press Conference and feel a lot more reassured regarding Tracc’s support by the players and coaches, Goody said that he is in constant contact with both Christian and Bella as are his team mates. He also mentioned that MFC Player Welfare are in contact with the Petracca Family to provide support. They need to do a couple of stories on our website to cut off the snipers

You think the correct technique to elevate in the air, hold balance and spoil is wrong and makes it harder to spoil?

And instead players should throw themselves in to the air like salmon and not only will they spoil better but they’ll prevent injuries to themselves and others?

Get that info down to the Demons urgently because we keep training with coaches with bags on their back and our players leap and put knees in to the bag. Including the games best contested mark and some of the best key defenders.

Actually email that to all clubs and the AFL because they’ll be very keen on this new and improved way to fly in marking contests. Given it will be supposedly be more effective and won’t result in guys busting knees on landing or crashing in to heads and necks as they fly with no balance or protection

Well said and actually embarrassing you've gotta justify the whole argument. You can always tell the ones you've never pulled on a footy boot in their life.

Look at the vision and you'll see Moore only has eyes straight at the ball. Like anyone that needs to jump for a spoil or go for a contested mark, using your knee is just part of trying to gain elevation in the air. They practise this all the time at training with the bags.

Can’t let facts get in the way of a juicy story now, can we.

No one from the club visited Tracc. No one visited Tracc full stop. He was in the ICU for several days and not even his mum or Bella were permitted to see him. Even when he was removed from the ICU only Bella was allowed in.

Tracc’s mum was understandably shocked and very upset. Who wouldn’t be? She’s also human and humans need a target for their overwhelming emotion. In this case it (allegedly) was the club’s medical staff. I’m sure once she knew he was ok and she had calmed down sufficiently she’d see things objectively and realise her anger was misdirected. Again, she’s human.

He didn't have to look at him to get the right/wrong place to contact, All he had to do was  get his run up right and that could have been from eight to ten paces away, and i have played footy.

No medical concerns there, just a bout of random capitalisation replaced ellipsis. Happens on a cycle.

That all makes sense given the spleen's key role in infection control, but a pretty horrible situation to be isolated like that.

Plus, Petracca has often talked up his classic Italian family style so I suspect their first instinct in a crisis is to gather around and be energetic.

Sympathy to all and glad the worst moment is over.

I'll probably have to delete this later to make room for other image sharing, but, for now, behold the glory!

The above is a genuine sign encountered at a Sydney hotel.

Your image (and others') are not appearing on my computer, @Little Goffy.

Is it just me or are other Demonlanders having similar issues?

I also haven't been able to post images of late.  The two problems are probably connected.

Sorry Daz..   You aren't the only one to pull on boots.  It's not that hard to have eyes on ball and know where not only your knee is but opponents back. Knees are for elevation and NOT for forward projection.

You do know you can walk and chew gum eh ??

What are you on about?

When you jump into a contest to mark or spoil the ball you're literally using your knees for both elevation and forward projection.

I'll give you a prime example.

Watch it in slow mo.. you think if Jurrah had connected to the head this would be deemed as deliberate, absolutely not. You're allowed to jump and use your knee as extra elevation and forward projection as Jurrah has done here.

Nothing to proffer - I may have been being a teensy, weensy, little bit facetitious.

It’s all getting rather tedious, but at the same time comically ridiculous.

He's a defender doing his job.. because that's what defenders do mate. Forwards mark it and defenders spoil and defend.

I'm not one bit surprised you can't distinguish from both because you've completely missed the entire point I'm trying to make.

Defenders tend to spoil unless a mark is easier or opportnistic.  Not rocket surgery here.

THE point is... Moore was defending.... attempting a spoil.  Not marking...   stay with me Daz ;) ....  ergo....  the prefered movement is to punch...  by launching forward.....  NOT elevating as though to mark. By elevating you actually create a negative force because you're pushing off the back in front of you.

So ...yes... i may have missrd your point.... what was it ??

  • NON-MFC: Round 05

Gather Round is here, kicking off with a Thursday night blockbuster as Adelaide faces Geelong. The Crows will be out for redemption after a controversial loss last week. Saturday starts with the Magpies taking on the Swans. Collingwood will be eager to cement their spot in the top eight, while Sydney is hot on their heels. In the Barossa Valley, two rising sides go head-to-head in a fascinating battle to prove they're the real deal. Later, Carlton and West Coast face off at Adelaide Oval, both desperate to notch their first win of the season. The action then shifts to Norwood, where the undefeated Lions will aim to keep their streak alive against the Bulldogs. Sunday’s games begin in the Barossa with Richmond up against Fremantle. In Norwood, the Saints will be looking to take a scalp when they come up against the Giants. The round concludes with a fiery rematch of last year's semi-final, as the Hawks seek revenge for their narrow loss to Port Adelaide. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?

  • CASEY: Geelong

There was a time in the second quarter of the game at the Cattery on Friday afternoon when the Casey Demons threatened to take the game apart against the Cats. The Demons had been well on top early but were struggling to convert their ascendancy over the ground until Tom Fullarton’s burst of three goals in the space of eight minutes on the way to a five goal haul and his best game for the club since arriving from Brisbane at the end of 2023. He was leading, marking and otherwise giving his opponents a merry dance as Casey grabbed a three goal lead in the blink of an eye. Fullarton has now kicked ten goals in Casey’s three matches and, with Melbourne’s forward conversion woes, he is definitely in with a chance to get his first game with the club in next week’s Gather Round in Adelaide. Despite the tall forward’s efforts - he finished with 19 disposals and eight marks and had four hit outs as back up to Will Verrall in the second half - it wasn’t enough as Geelong reigned in the lead through persistent attacks and eventually clawed their way to the lead early in the last and held it till they achieved the end aim of victory.

  • REPORT: Geelong

I was disappointed to hear Goody say at his post match presser after the team’s 39 point defeat against Geelong that "we're getting high quality entry, just poor execution" because Melbourne’s problems extend far beyond that after its 0 - 4 start to the 2025 football season. There are clearly problems with poor execution, some of which were evident well before the current season and were in play when the Demons met the Cats in early May last year and beat them in a near top-of-the-table clash that saw both sides sitting comfortably in the top four after round eight. Since that game, the Demons’ performances have been positively Third World with only five wins in 19 games with a no longer majestic midfield and a dysfunctional forward line that has become too easy for opposing coaches to counter. This is an area of their game that is currently being played out as if they were all completely panic-stricken.

Facing the very real and daunting prospect of starting the season with five straight losses, the Demons head to South Australia for the annual Gather Round, where they’ll take on the Bombers in search of their first win of the year. Who comes in, and who comes out?

  • NON-MFC: Round 04

Round 4 kicks off with a blockbuster on Thursday night as traditional rivals Collingwood and Carlton clash at the MCG, with the Magpies looking to assert themselves as early-season contenders and the Blues seeking their first win of the season. Saturday opens with Gold Coast hosting Adelaide, a key test for the Suns as they aim to back up their big win last week, while the Crows will be looking to keep their perfect record intact. Reigning wooden spooners Richmond have the daunting task of facing reigning premiers Brisbane at the ‘G and the Lions will be eager to reaffirm their premiership credentials after a patchy start. Saturday night sees North Melbourne take on Sydney at Marvel Stadium, with the Swans looking to build on their first win of the season last week against a rebuilding Roos outfit. Sunday’s action begins with GWS hosting West Coast at ENGIE Stadium, a game that could get ugly very early for the visitors. Port Adelaide vs St Kilda at Adelaide Oval looms as a interesting clash, with both clubs form being very hard to read. The round wraps up with Fremantle taking on the Western Bulldogs at Optus Stadium in what could be a fierce contest between two sides with top-eight ambitions. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons besides us winning?
