Ryan Angwin

It's such a niche player to be linked to, it must be real...!

A left-footer with silky skills, Ryan Angwin is a versatile footballer with a high footy IQ. After managing just one game in 2022 due to a fracture in his lower leg, Angwin added 15 games to his career tally in 2023, often used in a variety of roles by coach Adam Kingsley. A composed decision maker who is creative by foot, Angwin is also a great athlete, highlighted by his strong time for the 2km time trial.

Umm. He wouldn’t be high on the wish list.  Gippsland boy. The plus is he’s a good kick. After the last few weeks, I would be happy to have anyone that can kick the footy.

The challenge for the recruiting team ahead of season 2025 is to bolster our midfield. Right now we're far too reliant on Petracca, Oliver and Viney. A couple of quality, experienced mids to complement our current crop will be really important given how much we miss Brayshaw and how one dimensional we look at times. Add to that the need for smart recruiting that can land us some more genuine outside run like Windsor. With that being the aim, a kid like Angwin could be worth a look.

Soft as butter but at least he’s young and soft with potential to improve rather than our previous efforts of picking 28 washed softies

Had him in Fantasy last year.

Needs to put on size, but very classy mover/left footer.  Smooth.

Half back? Wing ? Where’s he played?

Found the old draft profile. Crucially, there's no sign that he is related or connected in any way with Lawrence Angwin

I wonder how much the 'soft' impression is a product of simply not being strong enough yet?

Treated as taking him with a late round draft pick, he might be a reasonable acquisition as we search for a future Langdon replacement who won't take any salary cap space until he's proven himself.

We're going to have a truckload of list spots open at the end of this season and also likely to be pursuing a high value player or two to keep the shine on, so cap space matters.

Looks slightly built. What's his contest work like?

Who cares about the contest anymore!! Can he kick the footy. We have too many that can’t even kick it properly now.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.
