I’ve just read this … at the bottom of the email re: this weeks AFLW side announcement that Gus will be attending the B&F to say thank you and farewell

I wish I could be there in person to say thank you to him!! ❤️💙

It’s almost worth stumping up the $300 for a ticket, huh. That’s beyond the means of many of us though, so the majority of us will just have to make do with watching it on a screen.

I doubt Gus will be there for the entire time; if he still struggles to be in *noisy surroundings I imagine he’ll only be there to say thank you and goodbye onstage, but not before and afterwards. Would still be worth attending 💕

* Maybe it’s just that I’m getting old and grumpy but the B&F is an eardrum-blowing event. The music and mics are many decibels too high.

I’d love for this to be able to reconnect and galvanise the group. It really could be a turning point if Gus is up for it. I’d totally understand if he just kept it short and sharp though.

Proud to call this bloke a demon - what a brave articulate speech

Absolute legend hopefully he is now a step closer to getting involved in the club again - sorely missed

My heart goes out to Gus. I could feel his pain and hurt from a career cut short during that speech. The players sitting in the room felt it too... No wonder we had the year that we did. Thank you for your brave words that spoke from the heart Angus. Hopefully Gus will be there to present our next Premiership cup to our team!

It is the only portion of the night worth watching. So much emotion, which I am sure is shared by the other medically retired players. I am looking forward to the B&F and hearing him speak. I noted that Riv got BOG in the next two games after the speech.

Thankyou for putting that speech on here. The only 4:30 minutes of the night worth remembering.

Angus Bradshaw - A Tribute

- Loyal. Selfless. Empathetic. He was the perfect teammate.
- He was always team first. Was there a position he didn’t play?
- He was our unofficial leader. You just knew how much singing that song meant to him after a game.
- So brave. That mark in the 2021 Grand Final defines you. The goal you kicked straight after it was representative of your class and skill.
- He united all of the age groups. Gus loved them all, and they all loved Gus.
- He was the Everyman. He could dag around with the first year recruits, or he could soar with the corporate eagles on the board or in the coterie groups.
- His was the voice that brought the most laughter in the change room. He always had the right words at the right time.
- When Gus pulled on the jumper you never thought Melbourne was out of a game.
- Melbourne never recovered from his loss. If I could change one thing about season 2024 it would be that he got to wear his beloved red and blue one more time.
- His legacy looms large. We, the supporters do not worry about his future as we know that the world is his oyster. We hope that in time the club recovers from his loss and that it recaptures the ‘Angus Brayshaw spirit’.

- Go well Gussy!

3 players in that group are medically retired because of concussion.

Also if you're going to do a retirement feature focus on the players names & not the singer performing. Apart from Ben brown I really didn't see any other name

"I have to remind myself that some birds aren't meant to be caged. Their feathers are just too bright. And when they fly away, the part of you that knows it was a sin to lock them up does rejoice. But still, the place you live in is that much more drab and empty that they're gone."

Gus is all class [watching the Brownlow right now] 🥂

Gus' speech at the Brownlow was superb, representing the best speech, the most intelligent, the most encompassing discussion from a footballer that I have ever heard over the years. The room was full, impressed and totally silent, attentive and respectful on each point he raised and weaved meticulously into his message. Gus, you are an example to us all; quality stuff, par excellence. Our Club needs your constant input.

Spoke without notes. That is a wonderful skill. He will be in high demand in both the football and corporate arenas. Selfishly, I hope it is within the Melbourne Football Club. As others have said, he was our spiritual leader, the glue that kept the playing group together.

The impact of his loss on the team has been greatly underestimated by some who have been so critical of our performance this season.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
