Sports Psychology

This may be a dumb question but, does the club have a sports psychologist?

I feel like ,given the drop off of the AFL, AFLW and even the VFL teams in this last season, the players may need some good mental work to face next season.

Feels like the club needs to find a way to both erase and forget about the ghosts from recent failures and focus on the potential and talent of our lists.

A very good point raised @ElDiablo14.

When the pointy end of the season has come, to me it appears that the fear of losing has outweighed our drive to win.

We are very good at front running, but when we’re behind we panic and go into our shells (both the men and women). Fear of failure is definitely in play with our club atm.

Should we write a letter to the club asking if they have thought of this? A few of us could offer to mentor the players, maybe at the same time as some goal kicking practice with them and offer tips to improve their routine and ball drop.

Ex player Mark "Jacko" Jackson might be available. Could cover the goal kicking practice as well.

It is pretty hard to go back to back in any top level sporting comps in the world.  Rarely happens, teams spend preseason working on ways to beat you.

The bottom line for our sides you turn the footy over you lose, hit targets by hand and foot you win.

I think they need sports physiology just to bring it back to basics and stop over thinking the game.  Control the footy you control the game.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
