Gold Coast have Lombard as an Academy pick this year. Their 1st 3 picks are 6,12 and 20. He is expected to go in the Top 12 or so picks. We will know closer to the draft. They have plenty of picks from 20 on to match a bid. They likely plan to use pick 6 on Rioli. They plan to trade out players and bring Noble in,

We may make a play for pick 12 or 20 using a future pick or combination of picks.

6 will go to the tigs for rioli

12 will go for noble and the filth's future 1st

20 will probably be swapped for a future 1st from someone else as well

Lions have 18,56,69.  That’s 985,194,49.   1228 in total.   They will need a lot of points to get Ashcroft & Marshall.  Even with the discounting.  Surely clubs will put Ashcroft at 2 or 3 and Marshall at 12-15.   How can afford both without going into massive deficit as well as trading out future picks?

Doesn't look like Jagga will get to us.

If you had a choice between Lalor & O’Sullivan?

Lalor.

But between Smith and Lalor, I'm going the former.

He’s the full package. Best player in the draft alongside Ashcroft.  Cannot believe he could be rated at 9.  Crows will grab him at pick “4”. (If the Eagles don’t jump at 3).  Pace. Skill. Smarts.  Runs and runs for second efforts.  Goalkicker.  Dees would ❤️💙him in red and blue.

If Dees had to choose between Langford, Lalor or O’Sullivan.  That’s tough. Very tough.  Would have to be extra interviews and discussion.  Do they love footy.  How would they fit in.  What makes them tick.  Lots of the extra JT magic required.

I assumed Draper would get taken pick 3 or 4 and not be available at our pick. If he makes it through to us and doesn't seem a homesick type, then we have to take him. His agility and speed out of contests is brilliant, and his foot skills are great too. He'll be an elite midfielder.

We're in a great position where we could land one of Draper, Langford or Lalor to build our future midfield around.

I’m hearing West Coast very keen on Bo Allan, that being the case I would anticipate a pick swap somewhere as Bo definitely isn’t pick 3

Trading back in.

Dees might just land up with Campbell & Parfitt as delisted free agents plus potentialDerksen with trade for pick 50ish. If ANB trade gets us “25”, then we’d have 5,25,37, 45 & 61.  Useful for pick swaps and allowing JT to weave his magic to try to add 3-4 quality youngsters.

How is Ashcroft not 1?

I believe there's a monetary prize attached to Pick 1. Whoever holds #1 when the draft comes around would want their own first choice to take advantage of the kudos that comes with first pick and the cash.

Therefore, in my hypothetical, I expect that say Jagga Smith goes at 1 to Richmond and North nominates Levi Ashcroft at 2 forcing Brisbane to claim him at that pick. Then it's North picking their first choice at 3.

I wonder if St Kilda would give up their two top 10 picks for pick 3? If they did they'd be stupid...

St Kilda have two top 10 picks?

There's a few people I know that watch a lot of WAFL and local games that believe Bo will be the next Fyfe. I disagree but he is looking like a likely draft bolter with his late-season form and decent performances for Peel in their WAFL finals/premiership.

If West Coast can't get some swaps done I can see them crumbling and picking up at 3 in desperation of not wanting Freo to grab him with either of their first two picks where he'll most likely land.

I don’t see a Fyfe in Allan, Davis’s end of season form was better in the seniors. If they don’t think Allan is worth 3 they won’t take him, just like they didn’t take Curtin early last season despite wanting him

Will he last to 13?

They might try and use future picks for Baker instead of the Barrass pick.

I think he might, I’d have money on them taking Draper at 3

That’s about his range, which probably explains why WC are one of the clubs going after GC’s pick 12. Probably crazy enough to give up their future 1st to land p12, which could blow other bidders out of the water.

When looking back at the disastrous end to the game, I find it a waste of time to concentrate on the final few moments when utter confusion reigned. Forget the 6-6-6 mess, the failure to mark the most dangerous man on the field, the inability to seal the game when opportunities presented themselves to Clayton Oliver, Harry Petty and Charlie Spargo, the vision of match winning players of recent weeks in Kozzy Pickett and Jake Melksham spending helpless minutes on the interchange bench and the powerlessness of seizing the opportunity to slow the tempo of the game down in those final moments.

  • CASEY: Sandringham

The Casey Demons rebounded from a sluggish start to manufacture a decisive win against Sandringham in the final showdown, culminating a quarter century of intense rivalry between the fluctuating alignments of teams affiliated with AFL clubs Melbourne and St Kilda, as the Saints and the Zebras prepare to forge independent paths in 2026. After conceding three of the first four goals of the match, the Demons went on a goal kicking rampage instigated by the winning ruck combination of Tom Campbell with 26 hitouts, 26 disposals and 13 clearances and his apprentice Will Verrall who contributed 20 hitouts. This gave first use of the ball to the likes of Jack Billings, Bayley Laurie, Riley Bonner and Koltyn Tholstrup who was impressive early. By the first break they had added seven goals and took a strong grip on the game. The Demons were well served up forward early by Mitch Hardie and, as the game progressed, Harry Sharp proved a menace with a five goal performance. Emerging young forwards Matthew Jefferson and Luker Kentfield kicked two each but the former let himself down with some poor kicking for goal.
Young draft talent Will Duursma showed the depth of his talent and looks well out of reach for Melbourne this year. Kalani White was used sparingly and had a brief but uneventful stint in the ruck.

The Demons return to the scene of the crime on Saturday to face the wooden spooners the Eagles at the Docklands. Who comes in and who goes out? Like moving deck chairs on the Titanic.

It's Game Day and there are only 5 games to go. Can the Demons find some consistency and form as they stagger towards the finish line of another uninspiring season?
