Amazing how well co-ordinated players can be when trying to win or do something with the ball, the  turn into such clumsy oaths when there isn't any incentive to control their actions.

Similarly, I think Tommy Hawkins got away with a reckless act when he threw his arms out everywhere and broke Steven May's face a few years back.  ...Melbourne player, no story to answer here.

100% Balls, Ross Lyon reckons it doesn't start the moment he's in the air, and people are recognizing that it wasn't Maynard putting his arms up that did the damage but rolling the shoulder that did, and that protecting yourself doesn't get a free hit. I am very Baptists about this, you own your actions. Even Scott was onboard with times change, talks about the work they had to do with Stewart (Fox in charge of the hen house that that may be).

My tips would be (in order) Jack, Maysy or Clarry.

There will be way more spite than the duck dinner game next time we play Collingwood.  Will be rip the head off the Magpie time.

Go and have a bex and a lie down old fella.  It's way past your bedtime

It's just blah, blah, blah

And dull and uninteresting

At least you've toned your violent and aggressive language.  That's a step in the right direction.  You're doing well

Think of me as your therapist.  I'm here to help

Calm yourself, Macca.

Take your meds and have a lie down.

Think of me as your therapist . I'm here to help with better grammar, spelling and punctuation.

Is that more games than Cornes???

I think Mundy wins.

I have lost faith in humanity.

Now the rabid Collingwood mob is blaming our doctors for letting a player wearing a helmet play. They are suggesting he got concussed in a previous play. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes, but how do we change this concussion carnage?

Macca has suggested red and yellow cards. I am on board with that as long as it leaves the team that receives the red card with only 17 players on the field until (maybe) the siren sounds to end the quarter ??

At long last, we are finally talking about important stuff on this thread, If you have time to read, it is being echoed on the Pies sites.

It's because you write so well, Macca.

But pay attention to your spelling and punctuation.  :)

No, Macca. There are some deep thinkers over there as well.

Go look.

Red cards and yellow cards are in just about every other sport and those sports aren't unduly effected by the rulings

Even if play continued whilst upstairs deliberates on a possible illegal act

Here's a good example ...

Does Michael Long slam into an unsuspecting Troy Simmonds if the order off rule was in operation?  I say no

The AFL needs to take a giant leap into the 21st Century in a number of areas (goal line technology is an antiquated system for starters)

The next time a player takes out another player in a GF the AFL will introduce the send off rule. They're just lucky it hasn't happened for quite some time (2004 the last one?) Instead of getting on the front foot though, they will wait til it happens before reacting.

What does a red card mean though.

NRL.. ten minutes in the Sin Bin

Soccer.. off for the match and auto suspension for at least one match

(Both games have NO interchange)

Good luck with your magpie mates over there, pops

They've got even less chance of understanding your dribble.  But if you're a defence lawyer as you say, you'll get plenty of engagements

Actually, you're perfectly suited there so you should take up residence and leave the good folk here to their own devices

Can't a player be sent off for the whole game in the NRL?  (If the offence is bad enough)

I'd favour just a straight red and no yellow (sin bin) in the AFL.  And the offence would need to be blatant and red card worthy

https://www.6pr.com.au/david-mundy-the-afl-is-trying-to-adjudicate-the-game-they-want-tomorrow-not-the-game-were-seeing-at-the-moment/

David Mundy has weighed in on the Brayden Maynard incident which has divided the football world.

Speaking during his regular Monday night segment on Wide World of Sports, Mundy set the agenda off the top, setting phone lines alight.

“Laura Kane stepping in signals that the AFL is trying to adjudicate the game that they want tomorrow, not the game that we’ve had in the past, and not the game that we’re seeing at the moment.”

“If Brayden Maynard was falling and that was Scott Pendlebury underneath him, I think he would make a different decision than cover up and just protect himself and not worry about the other player.”

When asked by Adam Papalia what Maynard should have done differently, Mundy used all of his 376 games of AFL experience when building his response.

“When you’ve jumped up and you’re in the air and there’s a player underneath you, you have the ability to almost catch yourself as you’re falling on top of them. It would have been really awkward and they’d have had a tumble, but that response has a much lesser chance of resulting in serious health concerns."

Pfft he's clearly never played the game 🙄

Yes (have never seen it done).. the question is what happens to substitutions.

Seems hardly fair just to even up the game and say you've both got to put in your sub player

I cannot for the life of me understand why most on here think Maynard gets off.

Because that’s what we fear will happen, and that fear is warranted. Cripps getting off last year means every subsequent appeal is highly likely to be successful despite how ridiculous it is.

You're right, Gonzo

And even if we do see a heinous act, they'll talk about it over summer and then won't act

As previously stated, I'd bring in a red card as a deterrent along with a proper, well thought out plan on how the red card could be used

For instance, the Long bump on Simmonds by today's standards would be an automatic red card along with the Wallis blow to Green's throat (Hardwick would go for his cowardly hold on Green as well).

That brings the scum down to 15 on the field

    TRAINING: Monday 16th December 2024

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
