I hope I am wrong, and we do need some experience coming in to cover what we are going to lose.  But he screams poor work ethic to me and have heard the same thing about him from within the club too

Adelaide supporters on Big Footy are pretty salty to lose him ...

When have Crows supporters not been salty about anything.

‘I hope I am wrong’

The clarion call of the overtly negative and unfair.

Im from Adel and the normal fan is very happy to maybe get something for him and see the back of him.

Allow me to be more optimistic.

I am positive we don't need him.

Except that posters have said he is going to Dodoro and that means we will pay them.

McAdam has probably 2 good seasons left, so will not be expensive in trade pick.

Added incentive for him is he can keep his number as Jordon has left the building

And Buddy has left Swans and his number is available to JJ.

Shane McAdam is a like for like replacement for Jake Melksham, he is hard at it, can take a mark and can kick a goal. He fills a hole in our list, he has his supporters and detractors will Shane succeed, I genuinely Hope so. If he fails it hasn’t cost us a lot to find out. Good luck Shane.!!!

Very average.  Can kick goals but is lazy and gives away free kicks.

He is Fritsch cover and that is it.  And the way he is leaving the crows worries me too, just an average footballer who thinks he is better

Why would you not think this has all been thoroughly discussed and evaluated by the MFC staff? Burgess and the MFC parted on very good terms. If there was a serious problem with McAdam’s attitude, it would have been well and truly flagged by Burgess. Obviously the media will beat-up any actual information around something like this.

As for “thinks he is better” what are you basing that on?

If we get McAdam as expected, then that should be it for Melk, as we still have Spargo, ANB and Chandler with Woey, Howes and Laurie to come and possibly AMW and Sestan, if they can take the leap.

It would be silly keeping Melk at his age, with his ACL keeping him out for most, if not all of next season.

Rubbish. I’ve literally just finished reading plenty of Crows supporters on Big Footy who are disappointed to see him leave, and frustrated they couldn’t get the best out of him.

The fact he thinks the advice given to him by the coaching staff isn't applicable to him!

Rubbish, I live in around them.  They are happy to see the back of him!

Go read the Big Footy thread and find out how wrong you are for yourself.

Is a good reason I never go on Bigfooty

It’s always hard when a player chooses to leave your club it certainly rankles a lot of supporters but also saddens those that wanted him to stay. It’s an emotional issue and we have fresh experience of these feelings.!!

I once knew someone from Adelaide. And if they're still the same as they were when I last saw them back in 2006, I suspect they'd be disappointed to see McAdam go.🤔

I seldom go there either, but I went there specifically to gauge the reaction of Crows supporters.

They are not all “happy to see the back of him”. A few are. Many are not.

Average goals per game reads well. He has been described as having pace, good defensive qualities and has an excellent leap and can mark the ball consistently. Kicks the ball straight too.

With only 50 games under his belt, he maybe ready to take his game to another level. His age is irrelevant as he was a mature age recruit. Reads very similar to Fritta. We all new Fritta’s ability before he exploded as a forward.

Word around the city of churches is they see his abilities and potential too.

Redleg, if Melksham wants to play on next year I reckon we would be mad to not keep him on the list. He is exactly the sort of bloke to have driving his team mates in rehab, is a strong leader both on and off the field, and will create competition for spots in our 22 in the second half of the season. If word re McAdam's willingness to work hard are true then I cannot think of someone better than Melksham to encourage him to make the most if his short career is ideal - the bloke who missed years in his prime due to the Essendon doping program, didn't play in our premiership and did his ACL on the eve of this years finals campaign.

Go walk through the streets of Adelaide and do the same.

  • NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Finally the 2026 AFL Premiership Season is upon us. While Melbourne sits out Opening Round, there is still plenty of footy to enjoy with five non-MFC clashes to kick off the new season. It all begins on Thursday night with a blockbuster at the SCG as Sydney hosts Carlton in what should be a strong early test for both sides. On Friday night, Gold Coast gets its chance to open the season in front of a home crowd when the Suns and Christian Petracca take on Geelong at People First Stadium. Saturday features a double-header, starting in the afternoon with Greater Western Sydney and Clayton Oliver meeting the Hawks at Engie Stadium. That is followed on Saturday night by Brisbane Lions hosting the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba, with the Lions embarking on their campaign to win the Threepeat. Opening Round wraps up on Sunday night at the MCG, where St Kilda takes on Collingwood in the only game in town in the first week of the season. There is no shortage of storylines across the round, so discuss all the action from the non-MFC games of Opening Round.

  • PREGAME: St. Kilda

With just over two weeks until their opening match of the 2026 AFL Premiership season, the Demons are already well on the path to redemption and have the Saints firmly in their sights ahead of their mid-March clash at the MCG. What do you think the team will look like when they run out on to the G?

  • REPORT: Richmond

Mars is not usually a place known for lighting strikes but on Friday evening it happened twice in the vicinity of the stadium in Ballarat that carries the name and is a half completed building site with limited capacity for spectators.

Kozzy Pickett was the man of the match last week and has a vote lead over backup ruck Max Heath who didn't play this week and 5 votes over former Saint Jack Steele. Who gets the votes in this weeks shortened match win over the Tigers? Your votes please. 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1.

It's Game Day and the 2026 AFL Premiership season is almost upon us as the Demons take to the field for their final practice match before the first ball is kicked in anger in 16 days time. What are you expecting to see from the Dees today as they take on the Tigers at Mars Stadium in Ballarat?
