That’s a bit harsh.

Let me rephrase. Would not have played 100 games if his name was A F.

A positive would be getting him and get a hundred games into him so we can get the next generations of Silvagni's under father-son.

A fear would be for WCW and the Demon Army. Would he be too taxing on their already fatigued salivary glands?  There is a limit to how much one can drool before becoming dehydrated. 🙄

Don’t worry about our salivary glands, PD. There’s always enough drool to go around. That said, young SOSOS would surely put a dent in our supply. 🤭

I've always rated him more highly than many others around me, but I can't see where he fits with us. He is a very good utility or gap-filler, and I also reckon previous coaches have deflated his natural flair and instincts.

I'm not against pursuing him, but reckon there are probably better options.

I agree with this he goes for a lot or marks and never takes them and always misses his goals. We do need a new whipping boy

You mean that a 6'4' utility, with 100 games under his belt, is not injury prone, played at a complete cluster [censored] of a club and is available for free? I would be all over him like a cheap suit designed by Michael Hibberd.

He is all of that and playing for a team with little success for some time and he gets dropped regularly

6ft 4 inches used to be tall now it’s midfielder size

Our priorities lie elsewhere

succession for Gawn tall defence and an elite fwd

At this point we don't know whether the Grundy experiment works or continues into the further seasons.

Someone who fits what we need in a FWD/Ruck is Jack Silvagni who is reported as "unlikely" to remain at the Blues.

He is also an Unrestricted FA and if we are to move grundy on I think he fits our needs as a 30% game time ruck who has shown he can kick a goal. What are the thoughts? Would he be too expensive?

Finally avenging the theft of Ronald Dale.

Revenge is a dish best served cold (and in this case stale, tasteless and dangerously mouldy).

Instead of emojis or one word responses, can the naysayers please attempt a reason as to why not?

He's a UFA FFS!

Because he’s a spud and is barely AFL quality……in fact he isn’t AFL quality and to seriously suggest we pick him up to chop out in the ruck is laughable.

I tend to disagree with you.

Strong retort.

BTW,  this was against the 2nd placed side going for 14 in a row.

If he was to ever run out in a Melbourne guernsey I’d return both my MFC and MCC membership’s. Sides generally recruit to get better.

you couldn't fit him in with melky and fritta

I by no means think he is the perfect fit but he has proven he can be a decent player, I also think the being an Unrestricted FA is the biggest thing, considering we may end up using a lot of draft capital to make a play in this draft it doesn't leave a lot to play with,

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
