Brown is really struggling I think it's only a matter of time before Grundy takes his spot. Chandler cemented his spot with 3 goals.

We need to consider Petty's one good half of football this year, without thinking how promising he has shown in the past and how much we need him to come good.

So no real analysis, just another best 22. Thanks for that mate.

FWIW, no way Woey is ahead of Spargo.

Yeah Woey is still fringe, has thoroughly deserved this stint in the side but has no means cemented his place.

McVee May Lever

Rivers Tomlinson Salem

Langdon Oliver Hunter

Melksham JVR ANB

Trac Smith Fritsch

Gawn Viney Pickett

Brayshaw Sparrow Bowey Chandler

Sub Grundy / Petty

Trac and Kosi to rotate through the fwd line. I think the fwd line makes us mobile and unpredictable and real fire power, could be difficult to match up on with multiple targets.

Anyone that thinks Grundy won't be in the team come finals is away with the nuffies.

He’s in my team as the sub.

I think MFC is tracking beautifully.

Imagine Oliver and Fritsch both fresh as daiseys running onto the G in Sept!!  A fit Hibberd and Petty would be awesome. Issues remain with Grundy Brown TMac. They cant all play.  Has to be Grundy as back up for Gawn.

I do think TMAC is a smokey to return.

I have Woey ahead of Spargo.

Spargo's mind is as slow as mud when he takes a mark and his kick penetration is liabilty. Woey showing enough signs, and can kick a footy further than 30 metres.

As a group can we just collectively acknowledge what BBB has done for us. This will eliminate the need for the start of every post where someone talks about the potential for him dropped to elaborate on how important he was in 2021, we all saw it, some of us were lucky enough to be there and we are all extremely grateful for his contribution. This being said, when describing a key fwd in todays game and the first two things that comes to mind are bringing the ball to ground and providing a contest, we really need to look at that player. We should be talking about the players contested marking and goal kicking.

I is know it's easy sitting back and potting selections but it's a forum and here goes

Werribee  maybe Tommo in and Petty forward

Also Sestan has to be a forward but Casey is about opportunity and training but ring goes not look like a position for him. A 10 fudposal game with 3 goals snd 4:5 score assists plus a tackle count of 3 or above is his challenge with an extended full per season next season.

Bombay   How can you pick our best 23 without Petty if not say CHB he at least should  be CHF or FF.

Can  any one update Howes at the moment please.

Injured?  If so why is he not on the list featured each week with either Dr Laura or HP guru Selwyn.  Just asking as his form has been good over recent matches. Would he be worth trying on our forward line ie HFF at all or any where else?

Good point BE If BBB and Tmac can't provide they then JVR or Joel Smith or Brodie or more likely PETTY are the candidates.

What a risky sub choice

Grand Final day:

B: McVee May Lever

Rivers Petty Salem

C: Gawn Oliver Viney

Langdon Petracca Hunter

F: ANB J.Smith Kossie

Chandler TMac Fritsch

I: Bowey Brayshaw Sparrow Grundy

S: Melksham

This means 7 worthy players miss out: Tomlinson Hibberd Jordon Harmes Brown JVR and Spargo

I'd really like to fit Hibberd in but I have McVee and Bowey ahead of him.

Sub could be Harmes or Hibberd.

TMac may not get up, then it's JVR.

Wow, TMac and Smith is an intriguing play. I don't think Tom will have the athleticism anymore and could be exploited the other way, but I could be wrong.

As you say, I'd replace TMac with JVR. I do worry about Smith's footy nous and forward craft too in comparison to BB, but love Smith's athleticism. A tough one. With Grundy/Gawn resting forward too, we might not want BBs lack of ground ball ability on top of that.

The one major variable is that finals are often very different and more contested than H&A games, so we might be able to play BB, Gawn/Grundy and JVR forward in a final.

If Tmac makes the side in finals, one of two things would have happened

1- he made some miraculous recovery and in the process gained back all the speed and agility he lost with his previous foot injury

2- the rest of our tall forwards got injured

I hope it’s option 1, because a fit and firing Tmac makes us better and solves like 10 of our problems.

I want one more crack at the big time for Tmac.

Last chance saloon, Phoenix to rise from the ashes, a Lazarus like comeback, fall down 7 times get up 8, not failed just found 10,000 ways that won't work.

The way I was looking at was, flexibility. I had mids / small fwds on the bench, with Smith at FF if a key defender got injured Smith could go back and Grundy ruck with Gawn fwd. If a fwd goes down same again. But in my team we have multiple avenues to goal which has been / still is our achilles heel.

Not impressed by what JVR has done this year?

Yes very impressed with what JVR has done but I just feel that a tall forward set of JVR, Smith and Gawndy is a stretch for the flag, even with Fritsch there.

TMac just gives some experience and forward craft, but I acknowledge it's going to be hard for him to get back and get firing by finals' time, he does start slow after injury. Maybe it's impossible. I don't think BBB can deliver for us.

If not TMac then like I said, JVR. I had him in my line-up until I made a final edit for the reasons above.

  • POSTGAME: Sydney

The Demons controlled the contest from the outset, though inaccurate kicking kept the Swans in the game until half time. But after the break, Melbourne put on the jets and blew Sydney away and the demolition job was complete.

  • CASEY: Northern Bullants

The Casey Demons travelled to a windy Cramer Street, Preston yesterday and blew the Northern Bullants off the ground for three quarters before shutting up shop in the final term, coasting to a much-needed 71-point victory after leading by almost 15 goals at one stage. It was a pleasing performance that revived the Demons’ prospects for the 2025 season but, at the same time, very little can be taken from the game because of the weak opposition. These days, the Bullants are little more than road kill. The once proud club, situated behind the Preston Market in a now culturally diverse area, is currently facing significant financial and on-field challenges, having failed to secure a win to date in 2025.

  • GAMEDAY: Sydney

It’s Game Day, and the Demons have a golden opportunity to build on last week’s stirring win by toppling Sydney at the MCG. A victory today would keep them firmly in the hunt for a finals spot and help them stay in touch with the pack chasing a place in the Top 8. Can the Dees make it two in a row and bring down the Swans?
