Yes but we will have 3 x 10 day breaks in a row.

We will be the most rested, freshest team in the comp ready to take on the rest of the season.

Three consecutive 10-day breaks is great. But a 14- or even 13-day break is what we’re entitled to and is what the players (or at least some of them) would find way more beneficial.

How else can they go to Bali? Am I right??

I joke. They absolutely deserve a proper break.

Tempted to go to Carlton vs Gold Coast on Sunday just for the schadenfreude.  Suns a very good chance I think.

Carlton should win this but wouldn't you love the Suns to pump them.

Sydney a good chance to help us with a win against the Lions.

and to think most experts didn’t have Port in the top 8 at round 1

They have a very tough run home so if they make they deserve it. But they are not a lock to finish top four by a long way.

a few hard games.

they should win 6 from 9 easy. that’s 18 wins

My ladder predictor exercise after last night says that IF we can beat the cats next week, top of ladder finish is now a possibility on percentage from Pies and Power.  Power finishing top relies on a couple of tough wins needed for them.

Lose to the cats and not possible.

Better chance of second, third more possible, at least allowing a minimum home final in week two.

Just saying having seen the Dees live last week.

Who do you have Port losing to?

They have Pies and Crows at home and funnily enough play Geelong again in a few weeks.

They won’t go undefeated for the rest of the season. They just won’t. Upsets happen all the time and their young small mids could easily get tired. Or injured.
They could well lose to Pies, Adelaide, Geelong in Geelong. Hell Essendon might beat them. They beat us!

Maybe it’s because I don’t trust the Suns yet but I think Carlton are due to give their supporters hope for a second before they knife them in the back again.

Last night was strange. Probably should've been hoping Geelong won so we'd have two teams within close distance of us to aim for that top 2 position, but I think it's better this way. We can aim for a home 2v3 final v the Pies and send them off to a bruising Port prelim, who will be minor premiers and enough momentum to get themselves into a victorian grand final where their [censored] will fall out from under them, and we can have a 15 goal victory.

And Geelong can continue on their way at the lower rungs of the 8 or missing out completely.

We are technically only one game away from second, as long as we keep winning. We have a game in hand of Port and they have to play the pies.

Carlton are a mess, they’re not playing as a team, they have no depth. If the Suns were to lose it would be a massive backwards step on the progress they’ve made this season. Harry McKay is a major worry, watching him last week, when he takes a mark 20-30 metres out with little angle he’s seriously at a loss on what to do. I feel as though when he does kick a goal it’s more by fluke than actual skill. He’s almost Travis Cloke all over again.

Curious as to why you think Carlton should win?

In other news England have won the toss and will bat, ready to enjoy a night watching the Ashes.

Does anyone know when the last time both teams from the previous grand final missed finals the following year?

Brisbane are debuting Jaspa Fletcher tonight. Yep, Jaspa. JASPA. What is wrong with some people?

Not in the back against Berry???! Or is my perception warped because I can’t stand him.

I have alway liked Amarty. Out of contract at years end. Has had his share of injuries but I can see him in the red and blue next year.

A blatant push in the back to push his opponent out and goal.

Ump right there.

Brayshaw said he “nudged” his opponent out from under the ball. The commentators know what they saw but are reluctant to mention it. Or are told not to.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
