Such poor connection through the middle and into the forward line.

I now just assume that players such as ANB and even Brayshaw will more often than not cough it up.

Here’s disposal efficiency for those moving through the middle

Viney 37%
ANB 44%
Brayshaw 52%
Grundy 53%
Petracca 58%
Harmes 64%
Pickett 64%
Langdon 74%
Sparrow 78%
Salem 79%
Gawn 87%

In contrast, I could only find 1 Walyalup player on 50% and almost all were 60-70% plus and they were facing just as much pressure as us.

The decision making and skill errors behind those numbers are killing us.

It was unfortunate in a game when we really need Jv to step up that he couldn't.  We'll done Freo for tagging out his effectiveness.  It's not often Jv gets 2 touches in a half but probably the worst time for it to happen. I don't know why Chandler or Kozzie weren't given a run on the ball.

From the TV footage, Max was very unhappy at the end of Q3 and the commentators were suggesting he was naming names for poor effort. Anyone at the game have a sense of what Max was dirty about?

Why would we be undergoing a heavy training load when we have a tough run coming up in the middle of the year? We're nowhere near a top 4 guarantee either. At this stage, watching the slop we dish up, I'd be surprised if we made it.

King on 360 etc was spot on that there is a culture issue & something isn’t right, Gawny just doesn’t look right, with an extra ruck we should have dominated but yet we still lost on clearances , either our mids have stopped working hard or both Grundy & Gawn just isn’t working! What’s Goody plan B?? It’s the same old, the only saving grace is our loses have been 7, 4, 27,11 points but this premiership window may be about shut & the cliff is coming!

I'm pleased to hear this, but I'd hope he had his own name on that list. Darcy went down early and Jackson had his absolute way with Max both in the middle and around the ground. Gawn won the raw hit outs, but what does that matter when Jackson, Serong and Brayshaw sharked them as part of their gameplan.

One test failed, three to go. If we can go 2-2 we're still in the hunt for top 2, let alone top 4.

I'm gonna say it and people won't like it, but we looked like we'd been flogged on the training track and I wouldn't be surprised if we're in a heavy loading block, building up to the Collingwood match. But we need to get these results going our way, against middling teams like Freo.

The waning accuracy is also a sign of fatigue just FYI...

Will be pretty special to beat one of Pies or Geelong at home when we can’t even beat Freo at home who were a man down in the ruck for a half a game.

Also the loading excuse is wearing thin. If everyone does it, why are we the only good team who can’t hack it?

JVR definitely needs a rest, and sooner we get Petty into that back line again the better.

Culture ?

Surely not....  they have  " Goody" as a coach

Sorry Titan, but expected scores is the biggest load of shiit I’ve ever heard. Expected doesn’t give us the 4 points.

@titan_uranus was sharing an interesting titbit. Nowhere did he say anything else...

At quarter time we should have been up by 4 or 5 goals minimum. We missed easy shots and put two on the full. His point was our inaccuracy (having been so accurate this season), did not help our cause today.

We basically [censored] ourselves in the foot for most of the day, all over the ground.

But hang on, aren't we the highest scoring team in the comp?

Can't wait for someone to bring that little gem of wisdom up.

The other one is that clearances don’t matter

remember when Gawn was the tap king and there was silver service? It’s a distant memory.
I raised this in the podcast preview of today’s game

Gawn and Grundy aren’t that good relative to Sean Darcy who is the clubhouse leader and essentially didn’t play today - jacko towelled us up

our defence isn’t that good or different in system to other teams - freo was good

our fwd line except for Fritter and Kossie is nothing super - spargo works hard

not much in the locker

freo deserves its credit

it beat Geelong and has won on the road

it has ruck defence and midfield well covered

we have been drinking bath water

Suggest you watch again, JVR does a lot of hard work, but you cannot expect a young player to be a main target when the pill is kicked on top of ones head and always in packs, as for Kossie he is not a midfielder because he does not have the tank nor the body and he does not play that way, forward line player with some great skills but he is not used well.

I've noticed this season that teams seem to be able to shimmy, baulk, fein a handball where we look spooked and just want to kick in hope. Smashed at the contest because we can't evade an opponent.  And don't get me started on not having our crumbers at the drop of the contested mark. Frustrating week after week. But...haven't given up. It's a tight contest this year

Our premiership chances are over. The "gameplan" is abhorrent and the players are lost.

The season would be recoverable under any other coach than Goodwin. What a waste of a talented list.

For all my loathing of the Filth, at least their supporters continually turn up

Has to be the worst post of the year. Poster should be banned for writing this garbage.

Was not having a dig at titan AF, hence the sorry part. If I remember correctly Richmond won the ‘expected’ score on Anzac Eve. Doesn’t mean much to me. Rivers kicking the ball out on the full under no pressure at half back in the third does. Ball came straight back for a goal.

Having just got back and settled down on the trip home I’ve come to the realisation that today boiled down to two key things:

- Failure to take clear goalkicking chances (I can think of at least 6 that were very gettable) - if those go through (particularly the early ones) it’s a different game with more scoreboard pressure.

- The absence of a transcendent inside mid who is the best inside mid we’ve had in my lifetime - we have been spoiled with him and Trac’s nearly constant presence in the team over the last 5 years so we come to expect a level of performance around the ball that simply can’t be maintained when either of them are not there. Take Brayshaw (the closest comparison) out of Freo’s team today and we probably win by 3 goals.

I’m not convinced Freo’s system was massively better than ours, or that our connection or effort was off - just one of those games (like last week) that could have gone either way. I’m trying to be pragmatic about it but I figure it’s much better to be going at 60-70% now than at 100% now and run out of legs in September. If we get to the bye at 8-5 it’s not a terrible spot to be in all things considered.

The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti
