Cats can’t get it into their fwd line at all, Pies helped by favourable umpire decisions on around their half back, but gee the Pies play fast

Did you seriously downplay the Pies for this season, layz?

Most I know were predicting at least top 4 ... they are probably the most skilled team in the league and are getting better

The Kings Birthday clash will be an absolute ripper.  But who starts favourite?

I had them in the 8 Macca. Great unit across the board and I think their back 6 is among the best but they still have a lot of their best players over 30. Not sold on Cameron holding down the ruck spot for a whole season yet.

Good side but was expecting a step back this year.

Their run last year was tremendous.  Their ball movement from half back through the middle and into their forward line is something a lot of other teams can learn from.  Precision skills

And they are quick   The Daicos lads don't get tackled (for instance) ... just like their old man!

They are a team we need to get past if we're going to salute

So without kicking a ball in anger yet we’re now equal premiership favourites on Sportsbet and TAB.

Don't want to sound rude but Idgaf what odds we are.

Odds change by the amount of money people put down, doesn't mean [censored]

Not sure if UK bookies follow their Aussie counterparts in setting their odds but I jumped on the Pies at 5.0 with the Cats just 3 goals up from fewer scoring shots. Feel dirty but that’s tomorrow’s beer paid for!

We've had our troubles with the Pies but we can beat them.  Don't ask me how, ask our coaches and our MC!

We're going to need a good plan as it's hard to get the ball off them when they're firing.  And a lot of their scoring opportunities emanate from half back with continuous possession

Pies will be a real threat this year. We already can’t beat them at the best of times…

It seems I have greater faith than you in the Dees. I base this on knowing that we learnt much over the past few years.

For instance: how to beat Geelong when it mattered after countless painful losses: round 23, 2021 to take the minor premiership. Smashed them in the Prelim 2021 also. Won the Premiership in 2021. Apply the same to all comers this year including Pies and with ordinary luck/injuries and we'll have every chance to take anybody anytime.

Bring on Kings Birthday. I can't wait to see the Dees take the Pies on.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
