Today marks the 95th International Women’s Day (75th in Australia).

A day to acknowledge the achievements of all women, particularly those who strove tirelessly for equity, the results of which means among many other things we have Kate as our president, and a deserving President at that.

To quote a sign-off I share in PMs with another Dees gal ( 👋 xxx)  on here…

SHEILAS UNITE!!!!

PS: before any of the ‘usual suspects’ get on here biiitching and Moaning… “why isn’t there an International Men’s Day???” There is, every November 19th. It’s just that y’all are too lazy to get off your arzes to promote it. 😝😁🙃

Yep, definitely a day to acknowledge. Obviously we don't want to only save our best for one day of the year but it's always good to have a stop and think moment.

And every other day, except most of us men are just too selfish and stupid to admit it.

i see women's day as a day just to celebrate women in all positive ways

the other 364 days of the year are there to fight for better equality

Even if Australian women had achieved equality in all areas (which they have not) they have every right to celebrate International Womens Day every year. Think of it like your birthday, it's OK.

In my case it is, MD!

So I have two reasons to celebrate today, which justifies the fact that I’m currently polishing off another bottle of champagne with my gal-pal who is also a birthday girl.

🥂 Here’s to day-drinking! 🥂

Can we merge this with @WalkingCivilWarthread which is also a great thread.  TIA

Umm, what happened to her thread?  I haven't been on DL all afternoon but it seems to have disappeared from the main Forum page? 😟

Did someone derail it?

Which thread? I looked to see if someone had posted one as I have been offline most of the afternoon.

I can't find it Andy.  It was on the main Board this morning.

Found it.  (Search feature is my friend 🙃)  Not sure which forum it is in...

Edit:  Oops, found it the General Discussion Forum.

Just read the thread.  Someone really ruffled @WalkingCivilWar's feathers.  Not sure it is a good idea to ruffle the feathers of a 'ranga' - fiery at the best of times😍

This is off topic (football) granted, but is it really?

There are many women involved in the AFL like our president. Our AFLW team. It is still  International Womens Day, leave this topic on the main board, at least until people have had the chance to read it and respond.

Thank you for finding it for me. I've now merged them and moved it back here.

For good reason too. Misogyny has no place on Demonland. Do you disagree?

Happy birthday!  You were almost a teetotaler when joining DL.  What has the DA done to you🙄

Have a great day!  🥂

I agree  no place anywhere for misogyny, however there were some positive posts as well.

I can understand the drinking WCW. It’s tough when you actually hit 30.

Yeah that’d be some of mine. And rightly so. I may or may not have threatened to burn DL to the ground. 😬 As Luci @Lucifers Herosaid best not to ruffle the feathers of a fiery ranga. Wise words indeed.

Special mention to my mother-in-law and aunt-in-law, who took the 'International' part to the extreme by spending the day flying back to Vietnam.

International Women's Day is also a much bigger deal in Vietnam than here, so I'm glad they also get four extra hours of the day there to celebrate!

Happy international women's Day to all our Lady posters, a total of 2 I think!

28 hour day! Wow that has changed since my last trip there.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
