Who of the current crop would replace some of these legends in effectively the MFC Best of all time 22? And possibly who will?

** Thanks Demonwiki

B John Beckwith Tassie Johnson Don Cordner
HB Noel McMahen Gary Hardeman Don Williams
C Brian Dixon Allan La Fontaine Robert Flower (vc)
HF Hassa Mann Ivor Warne-Smith Garry Lyon
F Jack Mueller Norm Smith Percy Beames
R Denis Cordner Ron Barassi (c) Stuart Spencer
I Frank Adams Bert Chadwick Wally Lock
Laurie Mithen Jim Stynes Todd Viney
EM Stan Alves Robert B Johnson
  Ian Ridley Greg Wells
Coach Norm Smith

I would think theres a place currently for Max, Trac, Clayton, May and futures market is Kozzie.

Do you mean just current players, or those who have played since the team was made. I think Neitz would be an inclusion for the latter criteria.  Currently only Gawn and Oliver for me. I think Trac can get there but needs a few more star seasons yet to be elevated to this company.

It is rather hard to make a judgement on players I have never see but...

Max, Trac and Clarrie are ins for me...outs would be Big Bob, ridley and wells

And I note Neitz is not included so he replaces N Smith as a player

Max challenges Cordner...

I reckon you need to have at least 10 years service before being eligible

No...I wouldn't think so.

Smith was a gun, his coaching deeds overshadow those as a player but he could play.

Wow what a team, we need a couple more flags before I would replace the 22 but would slot Clayton, Max and Christian and Neita into the Emegencies.

On second thoughts I think that Max would push Jimma to emergency and Clayton would push Todd down to emergency status as well and Tracc isn’t far off.

That would eliminate Spencer (7 years, 122 games), Warne-Smith (9/138), Chadwick (9/141), Ridley (9/130 - 5 flags!!) and Mithen (9/153). Fwiw, I think Clarrie’s already there, and is one of our all-time greats, Trac not far behind. Together with Max we are blessed to be able to enjoy 3 of our best-ever stars playing together in our current team.
And from what I’ve read and heard I wouldn’t be dropping Spencer, Mithen and IWS from our rolling Team of the Century.

I'm a big fan of the Viney clan but Todd sticks out like a sore thumb in that team.

A very good player, for sure, but only had a few seasons where he could be considered truly elite.

Was a butcher with the ball for most of his career.

Max and Clarence are obvious inclusions (goodbye Stynes and Viney) and Trac certainly gets a gig in the emergencies (replacing Wells or Alves), if not yet the final 22.

Fair point, maybe 100 games then.

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th December 2024

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
