No posting on MFC websites of any training photos today.

Was there anything on the social pages?

I would guess they have had a couple of days off, so as to freshen up before they get ready for the Big Show.

Chances are they will train down at Gosch's Wednesday 8th, 9.30am. Nothing has been posted on the website yet.

I was assuming players had the week off from all training. This mandatory week break before the start of the season was negotiated by the Players Association some years ago. So it wouldn’t mean much if the players keep training as usual. It’s all odd to me, the players haven’t played for 6 months and are chomping at the bit to play a real match for points!

With this, then the next training is more likely to be Monday the 13th, unless they have a weekend session.

Fritta and Viney update.

I was at Gosch's, Saturday morning, beautiful down there.

A group of under 15's playing a half field game. 8 Blokes have a training drill. Storm having a captain's run, and Fritta and Viney doing their rehab.

Looks like Fritta has ticked the boxes. Runs of various lengths, and the sharp start/stop, using hats. Finished off with numerous 70 meter sprints.

Jack running laps, some parts, going 3/4 pace and the occasional walk. He had some knee strapping on, which he took off and finished more runs. Appears unhindered.

I ask the trainer how they were. She said they “have finished”. Could be, they have finished their rehab, or just the session.

All looked very positive.

@Demonland

I noticed there is a new Forum for Training reports.  Have I just not been observant or is this a new Fortum?

Just not too sure in which Forum to look for new training reports.

Thanks.

As far as I know it is either membership card (reinstated by AFL this year, I think) or barcode on mobie app as last year.

Other posters might be able to clarify further.

The training reports forum is just a place where I can compile all the training reports on a given day into one place. It is mainly for packaging the actual reports without the other posts in the thread mainly to link to our social media channels.

Is MFC training on Casey?

I saw a trainer marking distances down at Gosch's.  Perhaps they have an after midday run?

Any inside info @WalkingCivilWar

Seems they are, Kev. Short-ish session this arvo.

I saw Fritta run to the men’s room on Friday night, if that’s any help. Doesn’t necessarily mean his foot is fully healed, might’ve just been busting for the loo.  😂

Seriously though, if he’s not right for Round One it’s through absolutely no fault of his own. He heals faster than the average person, he abides by everything the experts tell him and he has an unwavering determination to be 100%.

And for all the Fritta fans… he even forewent drinking at his mum’s birthday party because players in rehab can’t have alcohol whatsoever. He is a coach’s dream in this respect.

Would you have told us had it been otherwise, though, WCW?

Of course not!!! 😂

Incidentally, I didn’t ask him about his foot for several reasons…

1) I’ve been getting around on a fractured foot for over three months now and he’s never once asked me about how my injury’s coming along. 🙃

2) I’d get donuts from him anyways. His mum on the other hand…

3) I never ask players footy-related questions. I’ll ask, for example, what’s your all-time favourite song? Or, Neapolitan ice cream: vanilla, chocolate or strawberry? Or, who’d win in a fistfight: Bec Maddern or Samantha Armytage? (I asked this of one of our coaching staff and he answered, “I don't know who’d win, but I’d love to watch it!” 😁)

Yes, it was a bit of a photo shoot.

The media was there.

Most of the players having shots over the manequins, many hanging them from the shaded area on the boundary.

Fritta doing laps, had one kick at goal, and wearing his normal training jersey (the one with their number on it) .

Viney still in rehab, pushing himself in the laps. He did a few with Salem,  half ways, and more full laps. Looks like he is working to be match fit. As he ended up bent over a couple of times.

Oliver was working closely with Moniz-wakefield.

J.Smith was in his training jersey as well, looking free to go and happy.

BBB was kicking long 40 m goals from straight out. He and Vines the last on the paddock

The media department has been extremely poor this off season.

Media coverage could well be an uptake by Demonland itself, in the future. It would 'exceed' what has been offered to date, no doubt. It may also stimulate change, greater commitment by the Club and set worthwhile precedents and less irrelevancies now that we are the 'talk of the town' amongst footy clubs.

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol
