Injury List: Round 15

Jake Bowey - Concussion | Available
Will Verrall - Pelvis | Available
Clayton Oliver - Hamstring | Test
Harry Petty - Foot | Test
Kye Turner - Groin | TBC
Tom McDonald - Foot | 5 - 7 Weeks

Give Clarry another week off if needed. As much as he's my favourite player and IMV, our best player, I don't think he'll be the difference between us winning or losing.

I want him fit for our last 9 games + finals.

We will win with or without him.

But he does need match time.

If his hand is an issue though, I wouldn't risk him.

At least, there's no Selwood to 'accidentally' kick the ball out of his hand again.

Oliver doesn't have a leg to stand on if he is told he can't play.  He disobeyed doctor's orders and left hospital impacting his recovery thereby disadvantaging the team.

It is similar to breaking the rule of not drinking while injured for which players have incurred a suspension.  May comes to mind.

For that breach alone Oliver will be damn lucky if he doesn't get a club suspension or leadership group suspension.  He put himself before the team.

Calm the Farm.

As good as Oliver is, no one is above team rules.

There were several articles posted in a thread where Oliver admitted he left hospital when he shouldn't have and said the doctors were right (paraphrasing).  The articles said he went for a run but he said he went to get some clothes.  Not sure which context is right...one wonders why his partner couldn't have brought a change of clothes to him.

Can't remember which thread.

Yet apparently the Club was happy to have him doing sprints on the G after the KB match

The club's actions would appear to contradict your view LH.

Goody said we won’t risk Clarry he will need to prove his fitness before playing on Thursday prefer him to take another week and be ready for the Alice game against GWS.!!

Not sure why so many fit young men seem to get infection complications ie not just Oliver

must be something wrong in the injury management or their immune systems

Any Docs out there??

His stay in hospital was the week before the KB match.

Think he and his partner have split up.

I wonder that as well. It's likely cause they ignore it at the beginning and keep sticking a blistered foot in a sweaty sock and running around.

Yes but he only came out on the Sat / Sunday yes?

If the club had issues they would hardly reward him by having him straight back into proceedings a day or two after surely.

This article had him still in hospital on the Friday with talk of a discharge on the Sunday...

I think he had been in hospital for about 5 days before leaving on the Sunday - the day before he took the run at the G after the KB game.

According to reports which he confirmed it was during that 5 fay hospital stay that he took it upon himself to leave.

Yes it seemed he was a naughty boy and snuck out at one point LH.

I'm not saying this didn't take place.

That's not the point i was making.

Well I'm no more informed after that article!

Immune systems compromised perhaps.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
