Two Demons in the top 10 for what it's worth.

TOP TEN:

1. Dustin Martin

2. Lance Franklin

3. Patrick Dangerfield

4. Marcus Bontempelli

5. Max Gawn

6. Patrick Cripps

7. Scott Pendlebury

8. Nat Fyfe

9. Christian Petracca

10. Jack Riewoldt

Dangerfield #3???

Who TF put this list together? He’d be in my top 3 most unpopular!

Disliked… whatever.

about this much, swoop Pre-decimal Sterling

Funny thing dc I was born the year after.!!

No detail provided about the method used to compile but i would have thought Maxy the most popular. He seems to be universally well liked by supporters of all teams. I wouldn't say the same about dangerflog. Strange list

you were born 1945?  I was 2 years younger  😲

Buddy? Really?

One kick in the finals (Petracca), fizzer in big games, entitlement re contract,  serial match review presenter - frequently to Swans’ detriment and other issues.
Now if we’re voting for WAGs…

ah. the coin was 1944 (I checked a bigger image) so you are even older than it. they probably had farthings when you were born, lol.

you can brag you remember the war (but don't tell fawlty)

Who did they ask? Grandma’s with a penchant for neck tattoos who haven’t watched the footy since 2017?

Nar worse Eskimos who have never seen a game of AFL But liked the sounds of the players as they munched through their Fish Fingers at Dinner time!!! PFFFFT

Whilst there are a few on that list who I don’t like at all (Danger & Riewoldt) that list is about right.

They have their faces on everything so the market (fans) obviously love them

Ha ha no dc I was born in 45 one month after the Japanese surrendered. I remember the halfpennies but I can’t remember the farthings, boy times have changed, a 5 pound note was a thing of joy a 10 pound note was a rarity.

oh. i see, it was your brother born in 1942 not you

i remember halfpennies though there wasn't many around and i did see the odd farthing though nothing had a farthing in its price and i doubt shopkeepers would have accepted them.

and yes in 1945 a 10 pound note would have been a king's ransom. you could buy a house in melbourne for under a thousand quid

better stop there or i'll upset the millenials 😆

I even know Geelong supporters who can't stand Danger...

Players like Dusty and Buddy and Dangerfield are very much liked by many, but they’re also disliked by many. The top three on that list ought to be Fyfe, Bont and Maxy since they are players who are universally liked, maybe not loved by all, but I daresay not hated by many. Imho anyways.

just to clarify dz, i was 2 years younger (not earlier)  than you, meaning 1947

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
