Callum Brown and Issac Chugg from Collingwood delisted and worth a look.

Brown has shown it at AFL level for periods and would be handy depth on the wing which is an area we are shallow in.

Chugg is similar type player too.  could be good cheap options

Brown played some excellent VFL footy off half back as a smart, skilled distributor  this year, but his combination of lack of size and not much speed doesn’t really appeal. I don’t think he’d hold up on a wing.

Chugg’s a fairly unremarkable half forward, I think we’ve got enough of those as is.

Has Daniel Turner already been upgraded off the rookie list? If not I suspect he would also be a candidate

haha, was very good in the VFL, purely as depth in position.  could even put them on the rookie list

would rather we take a punt on someone from outside the afl system, if he's been deemed not good enough by the pies then theres probably a reason for that and we're better off looking elsewhere mature or 18 for some untapped potential

when he signed it was 1 yr rookie 1 yr senior list set up

The point is depth,  getting someone from outside the AFL system mean starting from scratch.  its purely for coverage!

Sign him on a rookie contract for 2 years whilst our kids develop and then de-list, if we're lucky he takes his chance and becomes out 2nd wingman.

Might be worth a conversation with Jack Bowes from Suns.  Reported that he wants to explore options.
Highly skilled small-mid defender.  Not a priority to fix but worth a 30 minute conversation imv.

Franky Evans kicked 30 goals in the VFL for the cats this year. Won’t be replacing Stengle, Miers or Close any time soon and Ollie Henry potentially coming in as a mid sized forward too.

If we want to replace one of Spargo or ANB with a small forward with a touch more  size who in theory can be more of a marking target/crumber and kick more goals he fits the bill.

I think he’d be a nice option rather than another year or two of Bedford still not quite being up to it or giving us anything different to our first choice options.

Kicked 5 against Casey which is more than some entire teams did!

I missed that, but also no proof it’s a done deal, and that came before the Rioli stuff. No reason we couldn’t table a similar offer and save him moving states.

think theyre after them both, lost motlop and gray and mcentee hasnt really grasped it when played

Any interest at all in Jackson Nelson as a lockdown defender, Hibbo replacement?

Delisted by WC, 26yo, 100 games, has some size at 187cm, reputed hard trainer and good character.

Yup, I like this.  He has also played defensive wing at times this year for WC.  Is a versatile player for nothing.

Narkle is another player id look at,  he has something,  consistency is his issue but has had some big games at the top level.  Probs not the type of player we need and he probably wont go to a club where he might not get a game,  but if cheap enough worth it I think.

Talented but problematic and available - Lachie Hunter and Sydney Stack - we probably don't want to go there ...

Sadly, no. The Bennell experiment still scars a little.

We're trying to improve our list not make it worse.

Nelson to put it kindly, is a 🥔

I haven't seen much of Callum Brown but he looks so slightly built. Does he have a decent tank? I just can't see much for him other than a Caleb Daniel type distributor role off back. Can't see him running through an AFL midfield week after week.

He’s either 90% of Spargo at half forward or a less upside version of Bowey as a half back

Daniel Howe from Hawks is also a good depth option for our backman stocks.

98 games, 26yo played 9 games this year.  20 games under Clarkson last year.  Clearly not in Mitchels age demographic.

I don’t mind him. He’s not great - always lacked a little speed or skills, but we could get him fitter and doing a job. He was one of the covid nightclub guys which would’ve put him off side at the eagles.

If they sign Hunt looking for speed we could get Nelson for free, give up some speed but get back a little more skill.

He might be the best half back I’ve seen available so far.

A tall footballer who exists, often through the midfield, more than a midfielder.

  • PREVIEW: Collingwood

Way back in March we contemplated the possibility of a Demon resurgence after Simon Goodwin’s summer of love. Many issues at the club had seemingly been addressed, key players were returning from injury and a brand new day was about to dawn. We imagined the coach pulling a rabbit out of a hat. The team would roar up the charts, push aside every opponent and make its way to a Grand Final ending in ultimate triumph with Goody and Max holding the premiership cup aloft under a shower of red and blue ticker tape.

  • AFLW REPORT: Western Bulldogs

We’re back! That was fun. The Mighty Dees’ Season 10 campaign is off toa flying start with a commanding 48-point winover the Western Bulldogs, retaining the Hampson-Hardeman Cup in style. After a hard-fought first half in slippery conditions, the Dees came out in the second half and showcased their trademark superior class, piling on four goals in the third termand never looked back.

  • REPORT: Hawthorn

The final score in Saturday's game against Hawthorn was almost identical to that from their last contest three months ago. Melbourne suffered comprehensive defeats in both games, but the similarities ended there. When they met in Round 9, the Demons were resurgent, seeking to redeem themselves after a lacklustre start to the season. They approached the game with vigour and dynamism, and were highly competitive for the first three quarters, during which they were at least on par with the Hawks. In the final term, they lapsed into error and were ultimately overrun, but the final result did not accurately reflect their effort and commitment throughout the match.

  • CASEY: Box Hill

The Casey Demons ended the regular season on a positive note and gained substantial momentum leading into the finals when they knocked the Box Hill Hawks off the top of the VFL ladder in their final round clash at Casey Fields. More importantly, they moved out of a wild card position in the finals race and secured a week's rest as they leapfrogged up the ladder into fifth place with their decisive 23-point victory over the team that had been the dominant force in the competition for most of the season.
