Surely they have some vuvuzelas left over from the 2010 World Cup? Why don't we give that a whirl?

Ugh even that one-minute vid was too much. I only got to 15 seconds before wanting to kill somebody.

What's the update on our home base??

Sooooo… I’m a moron? Is that what you’re saying QD? And here I thought we were besties. 😭😭😭😭😭

Having my heart broken twice in 24 hours is, well, heartbreaking.  💔

No, not at all WCW. That's what I meant when I said "that would be okay". Anyone else - not okay. And yes, we are total besties.

Actually, in the Positives from 2022 thread, I was going to mention that a positive for me was getting to know a couple of 'Landers somewhat better. You're definitely one of them.

Is Meaghan any relation to the Great Man?

Awww, ditto QD. 😘
Now that’s one broken heart mended.
Can you do anything about the other?

How about letting her concentrate on the other two: Casey and our girls?! The season’s far from over, you know.

I have confidence in Goody and the Club. After the horror of 2019, a significant number of hard decisions regarding the list were made. The side that won in 2021 was quite different to the ones we took into the final rounds of 2019. The Club turned it around then - I see no reason why Goody won't make hard decisions over the next couple of months and we reset for another run at it in 2023.

Yeah so thats the coaches job to that, not Kate's. Players are in capable hands under some very good. coaches there.

I'm just asking for an update considering both Kate and Gary Pert said there would be an official announcement end of last year/start of this year.

We've been waiting since.

Just on game day “entertainment”, has anyone ever actually won a prize for one of the competitions on the field at quarter time or half time?

Seriously the adulation for Kate on here is nauseating ... we get excited that she spoke to someone nicely ... where and when is our base being built? Can someone ask her that when they next have a nice chat to her?

Demonland is like any other community WCW. We come together because we are all Demons, but there are many different experiences within the Demonland community. And most people's knowledge, including QD's, is at best, partial and incomplete. Our respective horizons may be opposed dialectically. What in one is found intelligible, in another is unintelligible. What for one is true, for another is false. What for one is good, for another is evil. Each 'Lander may have some awareness of the other's viewpoint and so each in a manner may include the other. That's what we do. But we are human and all of us, at least in part, are seduced by wishful thinking, to an acceptance of myth, to ignorance or fallacy, to blindness or illusion, to backwardness or immaturity, to bad will and to a refusal of truth. Humanity is in this boat together and it's virtually inescapable.

Someone won the New Balance run against a player thing at the Collingwood game I believe (could have been Carlton). I was legitimately shocked.

I realise that. But she’s heavily invested in all MFC teams. Why should she be expected to address this issue when the firsts are no longer alive, but the seconds and the girls still are?

Because her role is specifically to deal with off field matters.. Our coaching staff are equipped to deal with on field matters.

She can still support the teams that are still playing, im not questioning that at all.

But the silence on this matter has been deafening from both Roffey and Gary Pert. We were advised that there would be an announcement around the time I've already outlined and yet, we've heard nothing since.

Supporters are getting fed up with the lack of communication while clubs like Western Bulldogs and Richmond are approved for recent funding to upgrade their their already existing home facilities.

Heard anything @george_on_the_outer?

Where the bloody hell were you this year? Our first finals series since winning the grand final and the club didn’t come up with anything special. Every finals game just get like another home and away game.

In the past, I can remember numerous promotions run by the club in finals. In 2018, they gave out Zurich supporter flags. Years before, it was demons flashing horns for fans to wear.

There was a missed opportunity this year, to do something unique and different. Many have talked about the lack of atmosphere from fans at games. Here’s an idea, get some of those inflatable clapping sticks like the do in US sports. Some will say “no thanks” - but I’d take it over novelty music between goals. It would have been better to manufacture participation that way.

I can’t remember a day this year where the crowd were offered anything different, or a novelty experience. After running the premiership celebration so well, I thought we’d see something this year from marketing, but I reckon they botched the opportunity.

The music between goals was gross. Something bottler teams like St Kilda do. Doesn't belong in AFL, maybe an NRL thing but not AFL.

Nothing.

Given there have been announcements about Commonwealth games and Womens soccer world cup from the state government, with NOTHING about AAMI park, I suspect that NOTHING is what we are getting.

I'm expecting window dressing to cover up the " we can't tell you anything unless the politicians say so" line we have been fed for the past 2 years.

  • PREVIEW: Sydney

The two teams competing at the MCG on Sunday afternoon have each traversed a long and arduous path since their previous encounter on a sweltering March evening in Sydney a season and a half ago. Both experienced periods of success at various times last year. The Demons ran out of steam in midseason while the Swans went on to narrowly miss the ultimate prize in the sport. Now, they find themselves outside of finals contention as the season approaches the halfway mark. The winner this week will remain in contact with the leading pack, while the loser may well find itself on a precipice, staring into the abyss. The current season has presented numerous challenges for most clubs, particularly those positioned in the middle tier. The Essendon experience in suffering a significant 91-point loss to the Bulldogs, just one week after defeating the Swans, may not be typical, but it illustrates the unpredictability of outcomes under the league’s present set up.

  • REPORT: Brisbane

“Max Gawn has been the heart and soul of the Dees for years now, but this recent recovery from a terrible start has been driven by him. He was everywhere again, and with the game in the balance, he took several key marks to keep the ball in the Dees forward half.” - The Monday Knee Jerk Reaction: Round Ten Of course, it wasn’t the efforts of one man that caused this monumental upset, but rather the work of the coach and his assistants and the other 22 players who took the ground, notably the likes of Jake Melksham, Christian Petracca, Clayton Oliver and Kozzie Pickett but Max has been magnificent in taking ownership of his team and its welfare under the fire of a calamitous 0-5 start to the season. On Sunday, he provided the leadership that was needed to face up to the reigning premier and top of the ladder Brisbane Lions on their home turf and to prevail after a slow start, during which the hosts led by as much as 24 points in the second quarter. Titus O’Reily is normally comedic in his descriptions of the football but this time, he was being deadly serious. The Demons have come from a long way back and, although they still sit in the bottom third of the AFL pack, there’s a light at the end of the tunnel as they look to drive home the momentum inspired in the past four or five weeks by Max the Magnificent who was under such great pressure in those dark, early days of the season.

  • CASEY: Southport

The Southport Sharks came to Casey. They saw and they conquered a team with 16 AFL-listed players who, for the most part, wasted their time on the ground and failed to earn their keep. For the first half, the Sharks were kept in the game by the Demons’ poor use of the football, it’s disposal getting worse the closer the team got to its own goal and moreover, it got worse as the game progressed. Make no mistake, Casey was far and away the better team in the first half, it was winning the ruck duels through Tom Campbell’s solid performance but it was the scoreboard that told the story.

Just a game and percentage outside the Top 8, the Demons return to Melbourne to face the Sydney Swans at the MCG, with a golden opportunity to build on the momentum from toppling the reigning premiers on their own turf. Who comes in, and who makes way?
