👉🏽Do not entertain a shoot out
                                                                     👉🏽Match Viney’s intensity

👉🏽Shut down Curnow and McKay

👉🏽 Kick straight / give off to someone in better position

👉🏽Tackles / defensive pressure inside our 50

If we can do this, we’ll win by 8 goals.

Go Dees🔴🔵

...and no third quarter nap time

If Melbourne let  Carlton do as they please and Cripps roughs up a few of our players without brutal retaliation from us we'll probably lose half the membership base for '23.

Get the job done dees . No talk about yesterdays players no matter how respected they are.

Get it done.!!

I know I’m banging on about it but BOM says chance of showers all day. What a load of crap.(Just like it did for last Friday’s game - which didn’t rain one bit during the game)  (The app I look at shows a number of forecasts, one says a shower around 5pm, the other at 7pm)
At worst there may be a shower…….so all of us that can, turn up and be loud and proud.

FFS, it would be nice to outnumber the opposition supporters at our last home game for the year.  Is that too much to hope for?

My friend Peter “Johnno”’Johnson (an arrogant Blues supporter) reckons they have our measure and guys like Saad and Walsh will expose our zone.  He thinks Curnow and McKay will be too much for Dees.

Bring it on.

I do wish we had a strong marking “figurehead” key forward like Neita in the line up. Our multiple entries seem to go wasted a lot of the time.

A bit nervous about tonight. My MFCSS is in full swing. Blues got nothing to lose, Cripps playing, backs against the wall, statement game to claim “The blues are back”. We’re a better side, and we just need to get the job done tonight.

Our fan base hasn’t seen a victory against a big Melbourne club since Anzac Eve. As a club we need to win tonight as it’s winning these games which makes our supporter base want to show up rather than get out numbered in the crowd and beaten. Give our supporters a reason to walk out after the game heads held high with a victory.

Spot on. Neiter was such a reliable target.

I wish Dogga could come close to him.

But I guess Jackson is younger and may some day. Hope he stays.

Bbb was doing well last year at this role and really improved his contested marking or at least getting the ball to ground for our seagulls.

Here's hoping anyway.

I hope Dees supporters don't boo Cripps(though the system does deserve booing).

Booing just encourages players. Don't let's help fire him up.

And it's just not the Mlbourne way. Too much class. Especially when one has a mouthful of Jarlsberg cheese the throat is dry and it's hard to make any sound.

The blues usually get home crowds in the 40-50s even against interstate so it seems low especially when you consider the importance of the game for both teams.

One should expect a decent crowd but who knows

It's a fight for finals possie ....I reckon closer to 59,987

Us supporters have not given up so 25k Dees...30k blues and 4987 hanger ons whose teams are " resbuilding"

Went to see Gang Of youths last night, and I'm taking the massive Red and Blue light show to start things off as an omen of a big win.

I'd say most of us probably agree too Mr Sunrise but the blues have bit to lose this being the 2nd last game of the season.

You want to power home with the spinnaker up and win those games going into finals.

Yea out form has been down but we haven't been humilated.

Tighten up our backline with May and Lever doing what they do best ...intercept marking.

And have bbb stand tall so to speak and clunk quite a few. Fritta to spark up and Kozzie and Sparticus to do the rest in terms of scoring.

I'm hoping Jackson and Gawn swapping roles every ten mins will be too much for Carlton.

Bring it home the best club in the world.

Going off a tangent here. Nothing new I suppose

Moving to Northern Wollongong ten years ago...I thought I do right by my 16 yo son and take him to a nrl game.

His mates follow it.

I tried ny hardest to get into it as I have enjoyed state of origin....the rivalry and atmosphere is like 3 grand finals in a row .

But a normal game well our team the Dragons were smashed....it was quite boring to Afl.

Sure I appreciate the toughness and courage of players... especially standing under a rain maker with 1000kg of men coming at you.

I know I'm bias but truly it lacks the speed... the speckies....the snaps....the disco dancing around players...the run and precision.

Even after 4 beers it wasn't holding much attention.

Afl is the best game in the world and it's all ours...the Irish are smart and have something similar.

It's a great leveller...players and class.

5ft 4 mid v a 7ff ruck.... plumbers and politicians all enjoy this unique sport.

GB have soccer...yawn.

Usa has football....like nrl.

France has rugby...not too bad.

But Afl wins hands down. A GAME called footy but can have more handballs than kicks.

I'm tearing up now must go...proud to be an Aussie.

Not bad! Wish I could sneak in a few WFH days and play my own music!

If every team member stepped up and played their best like Gus has this year we will have a flag without question.

On a much lighter (and way sweeter) note: this is what I bring to our games. (Please don’t judge me)

I call it the “I don’t care about living to a ripe old age” ensemble. The banana is included since I do care about living ‘til the end of the match. 😁

JK. I actually share these around with my comrades. Especially for a double-header like today. I’m a (sugar) loading believer. So if you notice a spike in our energy levels around the beginning of the second quarter tonight you’ll know why.
You’re welcome!

PS: hey @The heart beats true! We could fill our squadders with nothing but pure sugar for a week and have em all hooked up to a liquid sugar drip and they’d still be s**t-house, amirite?! Someone should start a thread about it!

Not sure if I really believe the banana story.

If I know you and I think I do a little I'd say it was there to surreptitiously toss on the boundary line for a blues player kicking from the pocket.

But I won't tell anyone. Oh wait...

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.

It’s Game Day, and the Demons are staring down the barrel of an 0-5 start for the first time since 2012 as they take on Essendon at Adelaide Oval for Gather Round. In that forgettable season, Melbourne finally broke their drought by toppling the Bombers. Can lightning strike twice? Will the Dees turn their nightmare start around and breathe life back into 2025?
