Big game. Casey are flying undefeated while the Suns are % out of the 8 currently 11th and last week beat top 8 team GWS by 9 goals so it might be our biggest test yet.

Possible team:

B: D.Smith, Ellison, Buntine
HB: Hunt, Tomlinson, Rivers
C: Baker, Dunstan, Woewodin
HF: Melksham, van Rooyen, Laurie
F: Moniz-Wakefield, M.Brown, Chandler
FOLL: Bell, White, Munro
IC: McVee, Rosman, Grey, Josh Smith, Steeleย ย

Isn't that a little pessimistic? I would have thought Southport was the big test. Relatively settled team, for VFL, heading north. Gold Coast will be a couple short as emergencies to go to Adelaide, I expect.

Weather predicted is sunny and 22 degrees...biggest problem should be sunstroke.

Shame no Majak.

Apart from no Majak, it looks an extremely strong team and should be good viewing tomorrow.ย

Strange fixture

I wonder why we are not playing the Lions somewhere

Next week we play Port at Casey (no Burra burgers this year)

Southport weren't a real test we flogged them. I think Gold Coast have more quality players.

I think in the emergencies Day will play but I'm not sure anyone else will play. I think they will travel with 2 emergencies.

The Gold Coast started off poorly but they have won their last 2 games against Collingwood and GWS. They wont be a push over, Budarick, Sharp, Constable, Macpherson, Thompson, Day, J.Corbett, Sexton, Andrew and Tsitas are all quality players.

Possible Gold Coast side

B:ย  Foggo, Thompson, Budarick

HB: Nicholls, Brock, McLennan

C: Sharp, Constable, Faulkhead

HF: Macpherson, Day, J.Corbett

F: Sexton, Andrew, Conroyย

FOLL:ย  Moyle, Tsitas, Oeaย

IC: Stone, M.Corbett, Bella, Murtagh, Harrington

Josh.Smith is probably injured so I would replace him with Milford.

Valentine and Baldi are the only 2 different inclusions to my possible side. Steele and Milford are emergencies.

15 Melbourne listed players, that's a strong side.

๏ปฟThis is definitely a danger game. The Suns have more depth on their list at this point in time than they have had for several seasons.

Couldn't the Suns field emergencies there's at least 1 or 2 players that won't play out of Atkins, Day, Fiorini and Hollands.

The odd man out among the seven โ€œinsโ€ for Casey is 19 year old former Oakleigh Chargers tall Ryan Valentine. All of the other inclusions for this week are Melbourne listed players while 196cm tall Valentine has been brought in to basically cover for Josh Smith who was very impressive on debut recently but was injured in the game against Collingwood VFL a fortnight ago. Ironically, Valentine who is on the Old Scotch VAFA roster was previously on the Magpiesโ€™ VFL list. He is expected to lend a hand in the ruck and forward duties. He was at the Chargers in their 2019 premiership squad and remained in their squads through to last year therefore was a teammate of previous number 1 draft picks in Matt Rowell, Jamara Ugle-Hagan as well as other elite draft selections in Noah Anderson and Nick Daicos and some other well-credentialed picks including our own Bailey Laurie so he should feel right at home playing with Casey.

Youโ€™re on the Gold Coast, the weatherโ€™s perfect and youโ€™re not going to be there in person?

I might get out there, depends on Mrs. Redlegsโ€™ plans.

Development List
George Grey, Corey Ellison, Roan Steele, Riley Baldi, Luca Goonan, Bryce Milford, Ryan Koo, Tyler Edwards, Miles Shepherd, Tommy McCrae, Matthew Johnson, Harvey Neocleus, Wal Wuol, Josh Smith, Ryan Valentine, Jarryd Barker

That team could beat Norf

What is the difference between primary and development list?

Good to see so many of the boys have had a run so far.

Iโ€™ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we wonโ€™t be taking calls or voicemails. • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourneโ€™s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time atย Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.
