I’ve also realised why we often hear that Baker is racking up the disposals. 3 times in that first quarter I heard the commentators call Oskars name when it was clearly other players. A clever snap from Laurie was attributed to Baker then a free kick in the back half moments later. Not sure who actually got the free kick but it was a small black haired player (possibly McPhee) but all the same I found it pretty frustrating. When I’m doubt, just say Baker. I’m sure Majak will clunk one eventually with the commentators praising Oskars strength 🤪

They called Deakyn Smith Oskar Baker when he got a free kick.

It is hard to tell the difference between the two I must admit.

Is there anyway to make the video fit the full screen? My option is greyed out for some reason, watching via the app on my phone. Bit hard to watch. Landscape mode doesnt change it either.Screenshot_20220501-145747_AFL.thumb.jpg.2c33ac3a71109087f2f4ef005baaeb82.jpg

15 scoring shots to 8. Hope we don't kick ourselves out of it.

Half Time: Casey Demons 5.10.40 to Box Hill Hawks 4.4.28

Goals Grey 2 Laurie Steele White

Disposals Laurie 14 Munro 13 Chandler Johnson Moniz-Wakefield

That was a horrible quarter of football by both teams. Must be a tricky breeze because there was some howlers. Tomlinson gifted a goal to Box Hill when he missed White with a 25m pass up the middle from a kick out. Went straight to a Hawks player who strolled in to goal.

Moniz Wakefield and Laurie the most impressive of the Dees listed players.

yeah think i was a bit harsh on baker since noticing how everyone else's disposal is arguably worse

breeze definitely playing tricks with kicks

Over the past 3 games, Laurie, Rosman and Moniz-Wakefield have shown signs of being able to play AFL. Tomlinson looks too good for VFL but then pops up with mistakes, poor choices. Confidence must be way down.

VERY nice snap for goal from van Rooyen.

What has happened to Mitch Brown really off the boil since his concussion also Rosman, Baker and McVee very quiet.!!

kC I have been watching the stats on AFL and it appears that we only have a hand full of players really contributing. Are we kicking with or against the wind.???

For mine, Rosman looks the best prospect for us based on today. Looks too good for this level.

I thought Rosman was in everything

Box Hill coming home with the breeze.

Casey could well pay for it’s inaccuracy.

So this late comer has just worked out you can watch every VFL game on the AFL app now. Got a bit of a challenge here in the last.

  • AFLW REPORT: Gold Coast

The forecast said wind. The ladder said mismatch. The scoreboard said obliteration. Melbourne didn’t just beat Gold Coast — they dismantled them: 13.15 (93) to 0.6 (6). An 87-point obliteration, the Suns held goalless, and the Demons delivering their second-highest winning margin and third-highest score in AFLW history.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #28 Will Verrall

It was a tough ask for him to break through as a 199cm ruckman in the shadow of an all-time great in that position who is also the club captain. He had some good days at Casey but was unable to progress and was delisted at the end of the season.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #29 Tom Campbell

The 33-year-old Campbell has yet to play AFL football for Melbourne, but his Casey form has been strong and he has been retained as a ready-made ruck depth option who is widely regarded as someone who is excellent for the culture of the club.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #30 Harry Sharp

The Demons acquired an interesting player in Sharp, who narrowly missed securing a spot in the Lions’ premiership team last year. The 22-year-old medium forward played in the opening round this season and ended up with 18 senior games, although he was substituted in or out in for ten of those matches. He demonstrated glimpses of form, but ultimately ended the year on the margins of the team.

Worked his way back after a slow start and a further slump in form going into the midseason but became a solid contributor for the club in the latter half of 2025. Closing in on 300 goals for the club.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Gold Coast

On Friday, the Demons return to our Casey Fields fortress where they have a 77% win rate. The scent of September is in the air and the struggling Suns are on the horizon. The Cranbourne weather forecast? Ominous, like the match itself: a strong chance of carnage. Let’s be honest, last week’s first half against the West Coast was a training drill but we dropped our guard in the final quarter. While this match is a mismatch on paper — second versus seventeenth — football is won in the wind, the contests, and the moments.
