Nothing at all. The silence coming from my corner these days is deafening

I must admit I got alot of love from mates in the lead up and following the premiership.

I was arguing we were going to win the premiership every year for 20 years straight and then when I realised it was likely last year I shut up and nobody could believe it.

I am getting baited about back to back and a dynasty now. I'm staying quiet again for the same reason.

I’m just loving being the competition bench mark. I have to remind myself that I shouldn’t expect EVERY article to reference us. After all the years of being condescended to I now feel as smug AF. But I am trying really hard not to do the same thing to others.
TBH I’m not always successful.

Other than telling them we're winning the next 3 I don't say that much.
When they start frothing at the mouth I laugh at 'em from the mountain top.

I did ask my Carlton supporting acquaintance who was  pretty excited if he's booked in for his  "Blues 2022  Rd1" tattoo though.

Haha that is gold 😂

Not much really as winning the flag has made me more relaxed.  My friends response has been fairly consistent though :

Get F.

My Cats supporting (acquaintance) who is always talking up his side was all smiles about weve stepped up the tempo of our game .....i just smile and he looks at me and says ....and F*#* Melbourne !!!

Oh its good, its really really good.

Happy to receive the compliments about the GF but have always believed in staying humble. Say less but make a comment like “they play for each other” or “play for the coach” or “it’s great having a group of young talented match winners.” If you want to have a diplomatic dig, I find something along the lines of “enjoy the journey” or “ it can take years for a team to rebuild” or you “need patience for all the stars to align to win a flag”

crom fans: "you've got one" (in reference to rachele) and "yr on wr way to making a long journey from milan to minsk" (rochelle, rochelle)

cartlank fans: you should've played finals the last three years, at least - looks like you might get there this year

peptides fans: yr too small in the middle; get stringer back in the midfield and you will be better / you've got no forward line; get stringer back in there and you will be better / you look light on down back; can stringer play there?

filth fans: such a shame you'd traded out of the draft last year; you could have daicos and rachele

pear fans: have you got any tall defenders left? what happened to to robbie gray this time?

tiggas fans: you really missed prestia; how long will this hammy keep him out?

For the most part I say smugly silent. one flag after 57 years after almost merging and being an embarrassment for so long, I am not ready to gloat much.  if we win another one, especially doing it easily, I reckon my lips might loosen up.

but you never want to be 'that mate' who is insufferable when they win.  we all have that hawks/tigers mate

  • REPORT: Port Adelaide

Of course, it’s not the backline, you might argue and you would probably be right. It’s the boot studder (do they still have them?), the midfield, the recruiting staff, the forward line, the kicking coach, the Board, the interchange bench, the supporters, the folk at Casey, the head coach and the club psychologist  It’s all of them and all of us for having expectations that were sufficiently high to have believed three weeks ago that a restoration of the Melbourne team to a position where we might still be in contention for a finals berth when the time for the midseason bye arrived. Now let’s look at what happened over the period of time since Melbourne overwhelmed the Sydney Swans at the MCG in late May when it kicked 8.2 to 5.3 in the final quarter (and that was after scoring 3.8 to two straight goals in the second term).

  • CASEY: Essendon

Casey’s unbeaten run was extended for at least another fortnight after the Demons overran a persistent Essendon line up by 29 points at ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne last night. After conceding the first goal of the evening, Casey went on a scoring spree from about ten minutes in, with five unanswered majors with its fleet of midsized runners headed by the much improved Paddy Cross who kicked two in quick succession and livewire Ricky Mentha who also kicked an early goal. Leading the charge was recruit of the year, Riley Bonner while Bailey Laurie continued his impressive vein of form. With Tom Campbell missing from the lineup, Will Verrall stepped up to the plate demonstrating his improvement under the veteran ruckman’s tutelage. The Demons were looking comfortable for much of the second quarter and held a 25-point lead until the Bombers struck back with two goals in the shadows of half time. On the other side of the main break their revival continued with first three goals of the half. Harry Sharp, who had been quiet scrambled in the Demons’ first score of the third term to bring the margin back to a single point at the 17 minute mark and the game became an arm-wrestle for the remainder of the quarter and into the final moments of the last.

  • POSTGAME: Port Adelaide

The Demons simply did not take their opportunities when they presented themselves and ultimately when down by 25 points effectively ending their finals chances. Goal kicking practice during the Bye?
