I swear back in maybe 2016, there was a song that played before the Melbourne Demons Runout only in home games and the lyrics were It’s time to Raise Hell! (X2) I’ve been searching for months and haven’t found it

Maybe cause it was Hells Bells.
Reckon we should stick with it.

Now we are premiers, the sound of that song should simultaneously send a chill down the spines of MFC and opposition supporters for polar opposite reasons.

Hope it becomes even more hated by the opposition than Ports never tear us apart or whatever it is.

Stick to Hells Bells, but they should play more if it.

Not just  the intro.

The intro is all that’s needed. ❤️💙

I like the bells tolling before the players walk out almost as a heartbeat, then as soon as “It’s a grand old flag” is finished put the rest of Hells Bells on.

How about the bagpipes?  If that doesnt scare off the opposition nothing will.

What about "You'll Never Walk Alone"? You'd think there'd be a massive groundswell of support for that amongst Demons supporters.

NO reminds me of the Port crowd, singing "Never tear us apart.

I liked Hell's Bells, unfortunately it doesn't flow well into "It's a grand old flag"

(Serious now.) I think the club should try out that "this is me" song, as it means something to the team and their mighty effort, and you never know, it might stick. Like a viral meme, these things can't be orchestrated. You just can't predict what will resonate with the intended audience.

But Hell's Bells always sounded good with the tolling bell and then the electric guitar ... and then the effect was ruined by the sudden switch to "Grand Old Flag". (Good club song but the juxtaposition didn't work.)

"Grand Old Flag" is perfectly fine. No need for any other song to be played

You are remebering correctly. Sadly I think the whole thing was a five second jingle and there wasn't a full power ballad version.

I’m a hell’s bells supporter. If people are concerned about the segue to Its a Grand Old Flag then it could be handled by having a pause between the two.

How about a re-recorded Hells Bells, local band,  with changed words.

We're rolling thunder, pouring rain
We're coming on like a hurricane
Our lightning's flashing, melting the fuse
You've come to play, but you're gonna lose
We won't take no prisoners, won't spare our might
Nobody's putting up a fight
We got our bell, we're gonna put you through hell
We're gonna get ya, Demons gonna belt ya

Gee, I wish Brian Johnson would just ease off a turn of two of the vice he put his nuts in while recording that song. Prefer Bon.

I’m not familiar with much from AC/DC. Are they real lyrics of theirs or did you compose that?

The double negative in the fifth lines leads me to guess it’s the former.

I've never known the words to that song or any of their songs really. It's just so much screeching and most are interchangeable from song to song. I copied them from a lyrics site and make some quick changes to suit a sports team. Others could do a better job no doubt.

  • REPORT: Carlton

I am now certain that the decline in fortunes of the Melbourne Football Club from a premiership power with the potential for more success to come in the future, started when the team ran out for their Round 9 match up against Carlton last year. After knocking over the Cats in a fierce contest the week before, the Demons looked uninterested at the start of play and gave the Blues a six goal start. They recovered to almost snatch victory but lost narrowly with a score of 11.10.76 to 12.5.77. Yesterday, they revisited the scene and provided their fans with a similar display of ineptitude early in the proceedings. Their attitude at the start was poor, given that the game was so winnable. Unsurprisingly, the resulting score was almost identical to that of last year and for the fourth time in succession, the club has lost a game against Carlton despite having more scoring opportunities.

  • CASEY: Carlton

The Casey Demons smashed the Carlton Reserves off the park at Casey Fields on Sunday to retain a hold on an end of season wild card place. It was a comprehensive 108 point victory in which the home side was dominant and several of its players stood out but, in spite of the positivity of such a display, we need to place an asterisk over the outcome which saw a net 100 point advantage to the combined scores in the two contests between Demons and Blues over the weekend.

  • POSTGAME: Carlton

A near full strength Demons were outplayed all night against a Blues outfit that was under the pump and missing at least 9 or 10 of the best players. Time for some hard decisions to be made across the board.
