Does anyone on here need to fess up that they cracked it after the Bonts goal and stormed out only to check the score at 3/4 time and think WTF.

Didn’t ‘crack it’ and leave, but definitely thought we were done.

I just wish someone could have told me that after that goal, they were only going to kick one more for the rest of the game.

When Bont kicked that goal I thought we were in trouble.

The football gods took note of all the Bulldog prayers asking "just one more goal ... please ... just one more goal." Being cruel and capricious gods, they decided: WISH GRANTED

No.  After what I had drunk (to calm the nerves) storming was not an option.  I did let out my best plaintive Aw C'mon Dees.

I will confess to saying to the Mrs when Angus was having that shot on goal 'Get ready to catch this'.

Just watched the repay again.  Noticed a new thing, in that Sparrow was actually kind of amazing.  Had at least three direct goal assists that I noted and he seems to love crashing into bodies.  The kid can play.

Also, how good was the whole team effort in the second half?  No passengers.  I don't think I've ever seen the team play better than that half.

Totally agree about Sparrow. Before the finals, I was like how is he still getting a game, drop him and get Jones in. But in each final he contributed. That goal he kicked in the GF was amazing and came at a good time.

Yea hes a talent.

I thought he and Jordan were similar but Sparrow seems a lot stronger and has a great goal sense. Goody made the right choice in Sparrow over Jordan.

That 50 m goal off a step was Trac like. Not bad for a youngster.

His kick to Bbb was cm perfect and he was cool enough not to blaze away.

Watch this player I reckon.

Ditto but I can understand how one can get greedy and want another four or five of these.

Bring on 2022.

How far do people think Fritta was to winning the medal?

Must have been close. He could have easily had seven.

I have it on good authority that Goody knew after Clarry kicked that last goal in the third we had it and his biggest problem was not letting the players know that at the break. He was unsure how to address them but whatever he said worked and they came out and finished the job.

Just watched the replay with the SEN commentary on youtube.

In the three quarter break on screen they posted that ..

Since 1984 only Geelong ( 2009 v saints) has won the flag when trailing at 3/4 time.

I wish i knew watching the game but i suppose after that last min goal spree at the end of the third i felt a little confident.

Maybe we will just merge the 2022 Postgame Grand Final report in to this one.

I watched that version of the game and had to turn it down, they were trying too hard to generate excitement and just succeed in yelling at each other. Even BT and Brayshaw were better.

In fact I love listening to BT squirm when he calls our winning games.

That comment of his when he says "Melbourne are drowning in goals" will have to go down as one of my all time favourites.

As is Brayshaws Bang, Bang Bang Bang.

Probably told them how hard they had worked and to win the next twenty mins.

I dont mind Bt. He goes early too often and calls points goals and makes a meal of players names but I love his genuine enthusiasm. Boy oh boy. I imagine I'd do the same calling a game.

Brayshaw tries a little too hard but i enjoyed his bang bang bang bang.

A lot of hypotheticals but I could talk about it forever …

Well he hit the post at the start of the 3rd , 3 goals that quarter would have seen him go damn close.
Having said that Tracks Bomb from 60 that ironically bounced back over fritsch’s head could have easily bounced through for a goal and nobody was getting the norm from him then.

Absolutely. And I wonder what he said to Gawn, and whether he had the bottle to apologise after the game.

“This is a rivalry full of nastiness and there’s a few things that stem from it. There are senior players from both sides that don’t particularly get along”.

What’s he talking about? If there is bad blood it was not translated to the game. One of the cleanest GF’s I can remember.

I assume that is Kane Cornes, one of the most moronic commentators in the last 20 years. I’m so glad we don’t have him anywhere near our coaching staff. If we had followed his advice immediately after half time in the Gannie, we would have taken McDonald off, illegally substituted by the medical sub, and reduced Viney’s game time, all of which would have guaranteed a defeat. He is a sensationalist moron. Keep him away from our club at all cost. Our coaching staff are 1000% more astute than him

Pretty sure it was Sam MClure.
Decided the dogs were unhappy they saw Melbourne players on Twitter or some such sheet singing the same song the Dogs were singing in the rooms after they beat Port.

The height of disrespect apparently.

  • NON-MFC: Round 06

The Easter Round kicks off in style with a Thursday night showdown between Brisbane and Collingwood, as both sides look to solidify their spots inside the Top 4 early in the season. Good Friday brings a double-header, with Carlton out to claim consecutive wins when they face the struggling Kangaroos, while later that night the Eagles host the Bombers in Perth, still chasing their first victory of the year. Saturday features another marquee clash as the resurgent Crows look to rebound from back-to-back losses against a formidable GWS outfit. That evening, all eyes will be on Marvel Stadium where Damien Hardwick returns to face his old side—the Tigers—coaching the Suns at a ground he's never hidden his disdain for. Sunday offers two crucial contests where the prize is keeping touch with the Top 8. First, Sydney and Port Adelaide go head-to-head, followed by a fierce battle between the Bulldogs and the Saints. Then, Easter Monday delivers the traditional clash between two bitter rivals, both desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top end of the ladder. Who are you tipping this week and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Essendon

What were they thinking? I mean by “they” the coaching panel and team selectors who chose the team to play against an opponent who, like Melbourne, had made a poor start to the season and who they appeared perfectly capable of beating in what was possibly the last chance to turn the season around. It’s no secret that the Demons’ forward line is totally dysfunctional, having opened the season barely able to average sixty points per game which means there has been no semblance of any system from the team going forward into attack. Nevertheless, on Saturday night at the Adelaide Oval in one of the Gather Round showcase games, Melbourne, with Max Gawn dominating the hit outs against a depleted Essendon ruck resulting from Nick Bryan’s early exit, finished just ahead in clearances won and found itself inside the 50 metre arc 51 times to 43. The end result was a final score that had the Bombers winning 15.6 (96) to 8.9 (57). On balance, one could expect this to result in a two or three goal win, but in this case, it translated into a six and a half goal defeat because they only managed to convert eight times or 11.68% of their entries. The Bombers more than doubled that. On Thursday night at the same ground, the losing team Adelaide managed to score 100 points from almost the same number of times inside 50.
