What traditions, celebrations and superstitions do you take into this time of year.

I’ve got a 1980 bottle of MFC premiership port that was given to my late father and at the time we vowed to open it if a GF win ever came our way.

Would love the chance to crack it open this year. Not sure how it will taste but it would be worth it.

Much to the missus' horror, my full sized flag now hangs from the lace ironwork of upper bedroom window.

Starting to see some other red & blue about our 'burb.

I am wearing my #positivelingers Tee Shirt and MFC socks for each game.  So far so good

The Dees traditionally do a lap of the bullring in the MCC members after a premiership. It won't be happening this year and unbelievably it's not because we won't win the premiership.

I'm not putting up any red and blue decor inside or outside until I know we are in the GF.

MFCSS or superstition?  Either way, don't want to jinx us.

I went nuts on amassing streamers and flags etc. in the weeks leading up to the 2018 prelim. (Still had some from 2000!) The huge box remains untouched since then. I’m so tempted to adorn the outside of my house nowish but don’t wanna tempt fate. 😬

Extremely rare would love to have a bottle of that myself.

Traditionally I'd root for the underdog considering we've only been in two grand finals in my lifetime.

But, this year, that's flipped on it's [censored] head... We're the anointed ones.

So traditionally when we are favourite, I pace furiously around the room expecting us to lose, with an 8% beer in my hand quarter after quarter.

My wife wants to know if I'm up for watching the Grand Final (she doesn't really care for Football, but understands its an annual ritual in our society and likes to honour it) ... I don't think I could bare to watch the match with anyone else in the same room - if we get to the Grand Final...

Signs of the upcoming apocalypse

  1. Worldwide pandemic
  2. Global climate change
  3. Demons being good at footy

All await the end of days and the rise of the demons!!!!!

Figure none of these players were at Victoria Park, R22 1976.
None were even born for a VFL Park prelim.
Bowey wasn’t even born when I queued all night in 2000

Didn’t feel sorry for any of these guys after I sat thru 186 at Geelong

New era  - new team

I saw 3 young kids (under 6 I'd say) wearing demons gear at my local park which I have never ever seen before.

A great sign for the future and shows much impact success can have for future members/fans

A nice tradition and good thread

Could you not have a small ('minor') glass now??  :-)

I wear my Melbourne runners for every game

Our sausage dog used to have to wear his demons jumper/ dog coat for evey game.

Sadly he has gone to doggie heaven after attacking too many people.

(Should have called him Toby.)

Aside from that just me wearing my old scarf which I think I will hang out the front soon.

Here in Northern Wollongong it will be unrecognized i guess.

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.

A undermanned Dees showed some heart and desperation to put the Fremantle Dockers to the sword as they claimed their first victory for the season winning by 10 points at the MCG.
