QT  Casey Demons 6.4.40 Footscray Bulldogs 0.1.1

Goals Baker Declase Ellison Grey Jones White

Disposals Baker 7 Jones Munro 6

The Demons came out of the blocks with the wind at their backs and dominated the term right through to the siren.

Corey Ellison with an early goal for him.

This kid Ellison looks very much like a natural, space-optimising forward. Let's get him developed.

Great start. Dominant quarter from the Casey team. Quite a few of Casey's players are a league ahead of those from Footis-kry. Oscar the Baker is making great space moves and has great pace.

Wonder if Jonesy a chance to go to Perth now that the team is coming back here first, if he gets thru this game unscathed?

The vfl stats is all over the shop. I've counted twice that Bailey Laurie has had 2 handballs but yet is listed as not having a touch.

Glad I’m not the only one going insane over this.

if Baker gets a senior game then we are going bad,  he has to have one of the worst disposals by foot in the game cannot hit 15 metre target.

Agree despite the windy conditions.  His pace is good but disposal is lacking.

If he had better decision making/skills he'd be incredible

Half Time: Casey Demons 7.5.47 Footscray Bulldogs 6.3.39

Goals Goals White 2 Baker Declase Ellison Grey Jones

The Bulldogs came back hard in the second quarter after conceding the Dees the first goal against the wind. It took the Dogs 9 minutes into the second quarter to score their first goal of the game by which time they trailed by 46 points. They’re right back in the game now thanks to six unanswered goals.

Casey is disposing themselves out of this game. Totally wasting a gale.

Jetta in a crazy piece of play from a kick in, handballs over Jones head and gives away a goal.

Jeepers Jetta having a shocker there.

Unfortunately our VFL are just ordinary suburban players. Killing is with turnovers.

Getting beaten in every facet. It’s gonna really really ugly in the last quarter. Bulldogs play like their seniors - hungry, sharp, constantly there for each other. Probably some learnings there….?

Not a player out there worth a game in the AFL.

I take it back…..getting ugly this quarter. Western Bulldogs depth is truly frightening. As of now, I don’t see  how they don’t win the premiership.this year.

Helped them that we took extra players for our trip and weakened the team dramatically.

Wallis and West killing us.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
