let's hope they don't find form next week

Dogs play totally different to us. It’ll be a different game.

A very uninspiring set of fixtures today. A north win over the bombers would be funny but tbh i'm not in the humor to laugh at other clubs today given our pathetic performance last night

Was listening to the radio when Ugle-Hagan took a mark and kicked his 1st goal.
Commentators went off their heads about how spectacular the mark was.
How high, all jump blah, blah, blah.
So to the video tape I went.
Geez, they carp on.

Outside of Our Daisy and one or two others, the media are basically clueless.

The only result that could really impact us is if GWS beats Sydney.

Why can’t these teams like North and Hawthorn just die, what happened to the good old days of teams tanking and you could make easy money as a punter….

Yuck, there’s just something about St Kilda that I struggle to like.

Really CB? I really can’t understand why you’d struggle to like a mob that has a profound history of cheating, chronic inter-generational ineptitude and racism, and multiple players being charged with rape. I’m truly flummoxed.

The easy money these days seems to be betting on long shots that pay $4 and over especially if they play us. Sometime I wonder if there is a perverse corrupt relationship between gambling and sport. Nah couldn’t happen…..could it?

But it’s Essendon! An Essendon loss is always funny. Always. Because… Essendon.

True,  but I'd prefer they keep Richmond out of the 8 so (with great reluctance) I hope they beat Norf.

Is this right… if Essendon win today, and win well, they’ll be in the eight (on %) ? If so, I really hope they lose because I’d rather have seven Richmonds in the eight than one Essendon.

I think I just don’t like their jumper.

I’m on a self imposed football ban today. I can’t stomach AFL today.

They don't need to win by anything much - right now, 3 points up, they're in the 8 on percentage (although both West Coast and GWS can pass them if they win today).

Yeah pretty sour on footy. Been a real Netflix day.

As the ladder currently stands we have beaten every side in the top 8 including us.

They're playing like a bottom 4 side

which means they'll probably beat us

Would have loved to see a Carlton loss to really get the natives restless but alas in classic Carlton style they've put in two quarters of tripe but will win the game off the back of 20 minutes of AFL-quality football.

With a win they won't move up from 13th but they'll only be a game and around 10% out of the 8 with five to play. Their last five are North, St Kilda, Gold Coast, Port and GWS, with only one of those games being away from Marvel.

  • PREVIEW: Hawthorn

Melbourne and Hawthorn who face off against each other this week have more in common than having once almost merged and about to wear a blue jumper with a red v triangle and an embroidered picture of a bird on the front. They also share the MCG as their main home ground, their supporters are associated with the leafy suburbs of Melbourne and in recent times, James Frawley graced the colours of both teams. Even more recently, both have bounced back from disastrous five game losing streaks to start off a season. Of course, the Hawks turned their bounce into a successful leap from the bottom of the ladder into a finals appearance, making it to the semifinals in 2024 and this year, they’re riding high in third place on the AFL table. The Demons are just three games into their 2025 bounce back, and are yet to climb their way out of the bottom four although they are sitting a game and percentage out of the top eight. However, with the current sportsbet odds of $3.90 to win this week’s encounter, it seems a forlorn hope that their upward progression will continue much longer.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
