It's lockdown and you can tell that I'm quite bored and have way too much time on my hands.

Below is a team, listed in position from the backline.  Some of the names will be familiar, others less so but all played VFL/AFL.

Your task is to find the common link.

B:  John James  Chad Morrison   Majak Daw

H/B:  Alex Keath   Ted Richards   Neville Stone

C:  Jason Gram   Michael Parsons   Craig Bird

H/F:  Farren Ray   Rick Davies   Rene Kink

F:  Lachie Neale   George Young   Gary Cowton

R:  Chris Bryan   Chris Connolly   Eric Sweet

Have at it Demon fans!  :D

Love your work Demonstone. I'll take the easy ones:

James Morrison - the Doors

Keith Richards - Stones

Ray Davies - the Kinks

Bryan Connolly - the Sweet

Missing the Neil Young/ Gary Cowton link, and the centreline has me lost as well.

James/Jim Morrison was in the doors

Keefy Richard - Rolling Stones

Gram Parson - The Byrds

Ray Davies (a fine fine song writer observer of English Life (Village Green Preservation Society)- mentor of my beloved Paul Weller) - The Kinks

Neil Young - Cowtown - dunno - Toronto was where he was born - Calgary has the Stampede (cowtown??)

Don't know Bryan Connolly... Bryan Ferry?? Billy Connolly - I could google the Sweet 0 but that feels like cheating.

The Neil Young connection isn't Cowtown, but well played EO.

I was missing out Dave in  Ray and Dave Davies...

Yep, Cowton's nickname was "Crazy Horse", which is also the name of Neil's longtime backing band.

Thanks to all who contributed and I hope it was a bit of fun.

I was desperately searching for a link from Cowton to Crazy Horse. I even read most of the Wiki article on the native American chief of the same name!

Unfortunately Gary was a bit before my time. ?

Thanks ds, it was very interesting.

None whatsoever, LDVC!

However, just to please WSW, you might like to find a link between these groups of footballers.  It's immaterial if you haven't heard of them before but they all played at the highest level.

1.  Daniel Ward, Dan Butler and Richard Osborne.

2.  Allan Joyce, Jono Rourke and Joseph Marr.

3.  Alistair Lord, Bernie Evans and Sam Glover.

4.  Greg Williams, Barry Young and Chris Scott.

5.  Corey McKernan, Michael Barlow and Royce Hart.

6.  Graham Wright, John Barrett and Terry Waters.

They all married females named Michelle??? Bit of a Hail Mary, I admit....

Without google

1.Black Sabbath

oh... the smiths

4. AcDC

6. Pink Floyd

? I thought this WAS a google test. In 1997 when Search was the new big thing, we used to have those as a lunchtime game at work in Hong Kong. That was about the time my memory retired.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
