Don't care if we win this by one point. Just get to the bye 12 and 1. That psychological break on the rest of the top 4 will be massive. I'm hoping the Bulldogs drop a game or two in the next month too.

There's a few top-8 clashes while we're playing Collingwood and Essendon: Port v Geelong, Geelong v Bulldogs, Brisbane v Geelong, Port v Sydney, Bulldogs v West Coast in Perth. Provided we get the 8 points, there's going to be at least some further falling behind.

The 25k radius might stop them but it might not, for a Pie supporter 'radius' is a big word to comprehend.

Isn’t that part of your elbow?

Yeah, I thought there were a few. An important period for cementing the top 2.

Good point you make @binman...although to me it seems like a long time ago, such has been Petracca's consistency.

Reckon it would have been QB 2018 that De Goey tore us apart from the middle.
Getting the ball and bursting clear with power.
Remember thinking at the time that was exactly what we needed from Petracca.

i was at the game and through the very same. I remember he soccered a goal from about 35 meters out that was as good a goal as you'd ever see. They have gone in completely different directions from a development perspective since.

There's still hope for De Goey. In the right environment (and drop a few kgs, get properly fit) he can still be a very good player.

It all started with a contested mark on the wing... when he gets confidence is momentum is impossible to stop

Just got a shiver

Yep - I've been thinking about that game this week. I was sitting near some annoying Pies supporters, and there was this one guy who, every time the ball was kicked in the direction of Cox in the forward line said: "Where's he at? Where's he at?" And unerringly, Cox marked it.

there is no doubt the pies are going to lift hard for Bucks, we're going to have to be at our best to beat them.

They’ll spend all their emotional energy on Bucks and forget to keep any for the game. They’ll be flat as tacks.

We’ve been waiting all season to dish out a real belting. Brace yourselves ladies and gentlemen; here it comes.

I love cucumber sandwiches. Just today I had one with sweet baby Lebanese on homemade sourdough adorned with sumptuous organic butter, but augmented it with some aged Italian parmesan shavings and garden-fresh coriander and rocket, dusted with ground Kampot pepper and pink Himalayan salt crystals. It was so delicious that I quickly prepared and snuck in another one when my current life partner ventured out for a brief errand.

She almost caught me with evidential crumbs on my shirt, but I fibbed and said it was dandruff! Queen Elizabeth II enjoys her cucumber sandwiches with Norwegian smoked salmon, so I didn't feel too guilty from a purist's perspective for my wild embellishments. And from a Collingwood perspective, I suppose at least it was white bread. I dunno, I feel like it beats meat pies with a regulated 18 percent 'meat' content and four fifths gristle and floor sweepings. But maybe that's just me.

Current life partner sounds very temporary, or perhaps one in a series.

I thought monogamousty was illegal. Do you require the mouse's consent?

It took some convincing, but the football public has seemingly come to terms with the fact that Melbourne, unusually, just aren't that bad of a side anymore.

I think that sums thins up pretty well to be honest.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
