M.Brown kicks his second to lead by 46 points.

i keep thinking bell is bradtke - it's the mop of dark hair and the lanky body

what is bell's background? he's competed well

majak has a set shot and misses everything after a terrific pass i50 from bowey

logan mcdonald kicks a scrambly goal as the siren sounds and it's a strong win by casey, 12.13.85 to 6.9.45

hard to judge from the stationary camera with casey commentary sync'd to it, but best of the melbourne players appeared to be mitch brown, jay lockhart, nathan jones, tom sparrow, with jimmy munro and zac foot really strong casey-listed players

McDonald kicks his 3rd to cut the margain to 40 points.

Munro, Bedford, White and M.Brown with 2 Jones, Grey, Chandler and Baker 1

Best players Lockhart, Munro, Bowey and Baker

It’s all over and the Casey Demons retain top spot - just!

Is Mitch Brown making a case?

Was under utilised last year IMO. Played well when he did get a game and is more mobile than the other 2.

Mitch Brown also has a footy brain for the AFL level. Some others don't

I really can't see how we can justify bringing in BB after today's underwhelming display.

When Roos took over in 2014, one of the first things he implemented was only rewarding players who had played well in the VFL and not simply dropping players from the seniors only to replace them with players who had been dropped 2 weeks before.

Apart from his poor accuracy, Mitch Brown has been the premier forward over the last 2 weeks. He's got to be ahead of BB for the replacement for Weeds. I'm crossing over into a different thread now....so will post further there.

Mitch Brown: the inform forward at the club.

Behind Tmac you'd say, until last night had been white hot.

Over under on Ben Brown playing more than 10 games for Melbourne the rest of his career?

Weid will play against the Dogs unless they drop him for Mitch Brown

I wouldn't be against Mitch Brown coming in.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
