Any idea why they've once again closed the top level of the southern stand (AFL members) despite rain forecasted on Saturday night?

Will this be a post COVID 19 feature whereby they close the top level for low-moderate crowds at the expense of most fans who will all get wet on rainy days?

Oh well at least at least the MCC members are catered for in terms of under cover while the rest of us plebs will have to sit in the wet and have the flu for the next 2 weeks while the entire top level is closed.

weather forecast has improved

coldish (15/16 deg at start of play),  light wind, quite low probability of rain

M56 for me

No issues with ticketing, again. In and done in about 60 seconds.

Slight change of topic, but can anyone tell me how I go about getting tickets for Melbourne vs Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval? Any advice much appreciated.

No I’m not, but from what I’m reading members aren’t sitting where they should be and lots of people are encountering problems when trying to purchase tickets. I’m a Sydney based Redlegs member, I normally get to Melbourne 3-4 times a year for games. I would normally buy guests passes for family and friends. My understanding is that this is not an option at the moment.

Yeah I hear ya. The quicker they get rid of the online ticket ordering BS the better

I get cost saving during COVID but this isn’t a GWS nothing club vs a cellar dweller. This is 1st vs 4th, and Sydney still have plenty of South Melbourne fans that follow them passionately. Closing the top level is a disgrace and immediately turns people away from the game as it removes undercover seating.

The AFL, clubs, and MCG need to get their **** together and start doing things properly, our game should never be a chore to try to attend, not when you have a 100k seat stadium.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown and  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.

  • POSTGAME: Western Bulldogs

The Demons lacked some polish but showed a lot of heart and took it right up to the Bulldogs in an attempt to spoil their finals hopes ultimately going down by a goal at the MCG.
