If they go back to 100% capacity I wonder if we can use our membership cards and sit in our usual seat without having to go through any tickitek rubbish ?

I highly doubt it - AFL membership trialled a couple of games this past weekend where people had to enter contact details for every person they were purchasing tickets for in anticipation of going back to 100%. So you'll still need to reserve tickets and you'll also need the contact details of anyone you're our purchasing tickets for

If a person has home and away membership I wonder whether the member's club pays the home club for attendance?

It's a good question. Bottom line is if we don't gain financially from their members attending our game then I would want to limit how many of them get into the ground. We should take any advantage we can get.

Surely its back to 100% this week? What is the point of reduced crowds when they just shut off the top level and herd everyone in close together anyway? Utterly pointless.

I've been told by someone at the AFL that it is all to do with the state government. Apparently, to be at 100%, they want the contact details of every single person that attends the game. Currently, the just get the details of the person that buys the ticket. QR code would have to be every single person that enters the ground, not just you doing it for your group etc. The AFL is trying to get around it but they aren't having much luck.

Just got an email from AFL membership which makes it sound as though crowds will not be increased for this week

The bar code is a 12 digit number and is shown on the back of your membership card, just above the scanning bar. It is different to the membership number.

fwiw I received the email on March 5, titled:  Important match access information for 2021

I am more interested to get the game day info to know what time the ceremony will begin so I can plan my day.

A tip for anyone who has yet to get to the G this year.... allow plenty of time, as you need to scan a QR code before entering and the lines get backed up.

Did any MCC members have trouble getting visitor tickets for this game. I know of one other person who couldn't access visitor tickets. Both of us are full members!!

Hi ls

i was fortunate enough to score two visitors tickets for my daughters. I was logged on by 9am and secured them in the first 15mins or so. We had to book on level 1 as no visitors tickets are available for level 2.

we are travelling down from Brisbane for the game (first time in two years we get to go back home!) and whilst we were super lucky to be able to watch six games live last year there’s nothing like being able to get back to the G especially on such a special occasion!

My daughter got 2 visitors tickets on level 4 for her mum and step dad but that was at 91.15  and the site was as busy as I have ever seen.

The website was tricky as the visitors drop down didn'

t appear until she register herself for a ticket. Then she had to put  name and mobile number to each individual ticket. Even if we go to increased capacity we will be linking name and mobile to a ticket for quite a while

I imagine AFL members will be a [censored] show tomorrow given Richmond has a large AFL members fanbase. Predicting I'll be bumped up to level 4. Good news is that even with both clubs' accumulative AFL members numbers, a seat is guaranteed for members with Melbourne or Richmond club support given they don't make up the total number of tickets available. You would think AFL members will fill up though with neutral supporters (and Melbourne/Rich supporters borrowing memberships from friends).

I booked Level 2 seats so that is why there were no visitors tickets available. I am so nervous using this system that I didnt bother trying to choose another level. Enjoy the game and the occasion. If you havent seen it live at the G before it is super emotional and an event you won't forget.

My email apparently no longer exists or linked. No idea what the person did on the phone. My account has been the same for years. Total shambles. Will get it sorted in the morning.

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.
